Great customer service, quality workmanship. I am so grateful for the House of Time and for its gracious, friendly and always accommodating owners. I've brought my Omega watch here for battery changes for years, but appreciated them even more in 2017 when Anna helped find an insert for a wooden clock I had given my dad years ago and repossessed after he died. It took her awhile to located just the right one, with the proper fit inside the wooden frame, but what she found was perfect. Yesterday, I took that same clock by for a battery change, happy to see the company still in business after many recent closures. Mike and Vern changed the battery right there on site while I waited (didn't take long.) I was the only one in the store at the time, and we ended up having a wonderful conversation about their business, and small businesses in general, and some of the challenges many are facing in this age of the pandemic. Locally owned and operated businesses like House of Time make Gainesville what it is, and provide unparalled value. Our community is lucky to have them!
I have been having my watches serviced by the House of Time for over 20 years. I had the pleasure of bringing in today a new Luminox watch to have its metal bracelet adjusted and the work was done on the spot as I waited - fast, courteous, and very inexpensively. It’s all too rare to have a service experience that is so caring and professionally competent as I have always enjoyed with the House of Time. It is the small things in life done well that bring great pleasure. My continuing experience with the House of Time is such.
I cannot say enough about the friendly staff and the service I've received from House of Time. Mike repaired my Omega, returning the watch to its original pristine condition, It's this watch in particular that is dearest to me having been handed down from my dad. I would highly recommend this professional watch maker, five star.
Took the time to explain to me why it wasn't worth investing in refurbishing the watch I brought in. I appreciated him taking the time to provide a little education, at no charge. Highly recommend their service.
I was traveling through Gainesville Florida and found this business on Google. Didn't remember the man but he was professional, qualified and knew his profession. I talked to him over the phone before I went to their business he made me felt comfortable to take my watch their. Once I arrived everyone was professional I got my watch fixed and got back on the road going south. I would recommend this business
Came to house of time at last minute for a battery for my boyfriend watch most places will have you to drop off and pick up another day but no not only did they put a battery in right then they also replace a bent ring on it they are very professional and kind people I will recommend them to everyone ....Great Service
I needed a battery changed out on 3 watches and a watch band. It is an amazing place. They have the knowledge base and equipment to fix any timepiece. From cookoo to high dollar wristwatch. It was an education being there. VERY IMPRESSED.
I would give House of Time ten stars if I could. I inherited a grandfather clock that hadn’t worked in 10 years. They ordered parts for me right before Covid hit and held them for 4 months till I could get back to Gainesville. They refused to allow me to pay for the parts until I picked them up. Then Michael went way above the call of duty to get the clock working again and gave me detailed instructions for moving it. It was quite obvious to me that Michael truly knows what he is doing. He is an expert craftsman who cares about his work. My experience with House of Time was outstanding and I highly recommend them.
I really like this place. Second time being here having my battery changed. People are so nice and great expertise. Definitely come check this place out when you need to have your watch serviced. I would consider this one as top choice in Gainesville for watch repair.
Wonderfully helpful and kind business people. They replaced the batteries in both my watches in no time flat, and gave me good advice for caring for my watches. This is a great local business we should all support.
I didn't get what I went in to get. I did get something very valuable an honest professional opinion. The gentleman at the store could have just replace the batteries that I asked him to and made his money but instead he told me that I would be better off replacing the watch. Didn't try to sell me one of his just told me that the condition that the watch was in could potentially cause more harm than good. I'm grateful for his opinion and plan to do business with him in the future.
We stopped in the store over the weekend to take a look around at the floor clocks. We saw one that we had some questions about, Mike was very knowledgeable, and professional. We did not feel pressured at all. We did decide to purchase a lovely clock. He delivered it on Monday and set it all up for us, and explained everything in detail. I would highly recommend them. The next time I Amin the market for any type of time piece this will be my first stop.
These lovely buissness owner’s , understand’s Patients Quality And Professionalism!. I’ve been there on numerous of occasion , and each time they out do the other with their wisdom and patience with any watch! If it ticks they FIX IT! Thank you again for your service .. They have blessed me and my family thank you again !
I am so pleased with House of Time and all of the employees there. I dropped my Burberry watch off on a Friday with no idea of what was wrong with it. They had it ready for me the following Tuesday, and responded extremely quickly to any emails or calls I made for updates.
The staff are friendly and were happy to answer any questions I had. I would definitely recommend them, and I can see myself coming back here for future services. :)
My watch works perfectly and was handled with the utmost care.
The Team at House of Time are Fantastic!!! The are responsive, quick and provide excellent Customer Service. While servicing and authenticating my watch they projected my watch on a screen so I could see a live viewing of my watch being evaluated. While doing so they walked me through the movement and condition. I was so impressed with the service and attention to detail. I highly recommend this business.
I am incredibly happy to have Mike, Vernine, and Lola in our small college town, where I can take any of my watches for service and repair any time. Mike especially is extremely knowledgeable about all kinds of movements from all brands. He has attended trainings from Swatch and Richmond, and is very qualified for servicing various in-house calibers while having full access to original parts.
And most importantly, they are passionate about what they do with their professions, not to mention their genuine kindness and warmth I feel every time I enter their shop. I could not recommend the shop enough! Plus his Panerai on bracelet is just too cool on his wrist!
I have done business with this company several times over the years and they are amazing to work with! They work hard to make sure I m happy with their work and they are so knowledgeable about this industry. You cannot go wrong doing business with them. Very hard working and honest people.
This is one of the finest companies I have ever dealt with. Michael
repaired my Rolex. His work was outstanding in every respect. He is very knowledgeable about all watches and how to repair and refurbish them.
I also bought a cuckoo clock from him, and I am very satisfied with it.
This shop goes well past what would normally be expected of a shop
in order to make sure the customer is satisfied.
I highly recommend the House Of Time to everyone, and I am
certainly a customer for life.
Returned to my hometown of Gainesville upon retirement. My wife’s Grandmother clock was disassembled for the move. I contacted Lentz House of time for reassembly and maintenance. Because of the age and value of the time piece I was initially apprehensive as to which artisan I should contact. After meeting and speaking with Mike and Vern I was confident in my choice. Their delicate touch and attention to detail was exemplary. You could sense their respect for My clock which now keeps perfect time and I am here to sing their praises. Thank you Mike and Vern for your kind and genuine customer service. Just a great experience.
I have to say, I was looking around for a place to replace my watch batteries. I called Lentz house of time to see if they were open as well their address. The gentlemen I spoke to over the phone was so pleasant and helpful. Once I arrived to their establishment, the two in the building took very good care of me with excellent customer service as well service. Mike took his time and explain to me about one of my watches I had purchased online the battery had leaked out some of the acid from the battery into the watch. I was fascinated by their equipment how it shows you on a big screen what’s going on with your watch. They both took good care of my needs until they have me for live as one of their customer. You all are the best in the area of Gainesville Fl.. I would like to say Thank you both ????
I recently stop by to have a battery replaced in my Tag. The young lady that assisted me was very responsive and professional. She clearly explained the pricing and the process for replacing the battery. Moving forward I plan to use them for all of my watch servicing needs.
We have always had excellent customer service from House of Time. They have restored a grandfather clock for us and Michael happily made a house call for a tune up. We have also been able to find special gifts in the store. There is nothing like the personal service you get from a small business like this, we are customers for life!
I needed a simple repair for my watch (replacing one of the spring bars that connects the watch to the strap. I called and asked if they had the part, and they said they did and would do the job. The staff were super-friendly and helpful, and I was on my way in a matter of minutes. They even checked at no charge the other, still functional spring bar on the watch to make sure it was OK, and ai was on my way in minutes!
I am a college student here in Gainesville. I went to Lentz with one of my father's watches from his small collection, which had been sitting for a while and wasn't ticking. I had just visited my home and brought back some of my father's things; one of the items being a simple rangefinder camera.
I brought the watch to Lentz and worked on cleaning the old film camera at home. It is a simple camera from the 50s, and I wanted to take it apart to clear up some fungus on the inside lens element. I'm a photographer myself, and although I had never disassembled a camera before it seemed simple enough to take everything apart and put back together afterwards.
Long story short I cleaned the fungus out, but the shutter blades were sticking as there was too much friction. I had read the lubricating oils in watches were similar to the ones used in film cameras from that time. And this is where the stories of these two items merged.
I called Lentz up inquiring about some oil and brought the lens mechanism in. Michal took such a polite interest in my project. He took my lens back to his workstation, put it under a magnifier which displayed live onto a monitor for me to see what he was working on, and applied the oil himself while I talked him through it. He gave his personal advice and, being that watches and this simple lens have some similarities in their mechanicalness, advised which type of oil was likely the best to use and where (There are many different types of oils). I intended on taking the oil home and doing the work myself! He even sent me home with extra oil in little baggies AND disposable finger gloves to be able to work more easily.
This man didn't charge me a thing for all of this, and he was very patient and helpful throughout. My watch ended up not being worth repairing. Something with the wiring being shot and how retrofitting it would take far too long and cost too much vs the value of the watch.
Putting the lens back together I ran into an issue where I killed the tension on a small spring. I went back to Michael and he MADE ME A SPRING FOR MY LENS. For this of course I paid him, but the price he gave me for his labor was very fair.
I am happy to say now that the camera is functional again! I am looking forward to bringing it with me on my adventures. Thank you Michal and the entire team of Lentz House of Time. Obviously, 10/10 recommend! I will be going back when I return home and bring back with me another watch from my father's collection.
We found their service and knowledge excellent. They took the time to educate us about several antique watches and provide information about their value. They also gave information about our grandfather clock and an antique mantle clock. Nice folks!
Honest. Good workmanship. Thoughtful.
My grandfather clock was behaving strangely and I was concerned that it would not ever run properly again. I called House of Time to arrange a home visit for my clock. Vern carefully listened to my description of the problem and scheduled a visit.
When Mike and Vern arrived to my house, they were punctual, tidy, and very interested in my concerns about the clock. Mike was thorough in his diagnostic evaluation of my clock and was honest about potential repair costs. Mike explained his findings and why my clock was not operating properly. Fortunately, the clock's issues were relatively minor.
To be sure that the repair he made was the only issue my clock had, Mike told me what things to watch for if more serious issues developed. They promised to call in a few days to learn if any of the more serious issues had occurred.
Vern called as promised and I was happy to report that my clock was working perfectly.
I would highly recommend House of Time for their workmanship, integrity, and value.
We have been happy customers of the Lentzes since moving to Gainesville from Switzerland in 2008. Our grandfather clock was damaged in the move. These clocks are very temperamental, and the elder Mr. Lentz, who has now sadly passed, repaired it promptly and permanently. We take our Swiss watches in to be serviced and have never been less than fully satisfied. They restored my husband's grandfather's 100-year-old pocket watch. You could not ask for better or friendlier service.
We took in two Rolex watches for servicing and repair and the experience was excellent. They explained the whole process, shared photos and videos of the inner workings of the watches and provided detailed information about the repairs. My watch looked brand new and I won't wait 20 years until the next servicing. They are highly qualified professionals and so nice and helpful. We are lucky to have them here in Gainesville.
They have been nothing short of wonderful finding the part for
my music piece. The estimate was spot on. I was also
impressed with their handling of social distancing in today's
environment. Will be a repeat customer.
I had been looking for weeks for someone who could repair an imported cuckoo clock from Germany.
Finally, I found the folks at House of Time and they were amazing!
I couldn't be happier with the service!
House of Time is a very special establishment operated by a young, genuinely friendly and supremely ethical, husband and wife team. Upon entering their shop, you find yourself experiencing "the good old days," when you basked in confidence while you enjoyed their goods and services. Whether for purchase or repair of a time piece, House of Time offers you a level of client satisfaction virtually impossible to replicate anywhere else today.
I am so grateful that I can support a local business that I like. It's easy to get to, the staff really knows what they are doing, I've never had to wait and even in this pandemic, they took care of my battery issue safely. I also found a very special gift for myself there last year and I felt good keeping my money in the local economy.
I recently had a ship's clock that needed a repair and took it to Lentz House of Time. This clock has been in my family for about 40 years and keeping it in working condition was important for sentimental reasons. The watchmaker at Lentz House of Time, Mike, and his whole family who participate in the business couldn't have been nicer or done a better job! I had no doubt they deeply appreciated the special value this clock has for me and they did a wonderful job of completing the repair well ahead of the time they initially thought it would take. Mike even had to manually adjust the new clock movement to ensure it fit and functioned properly. Working with Mike was like going back to a time when merchants were more personable and the quality of their work reflected their craftsmanship and values. The prices are very fair as well. I highly recommend them for any watch or clock repairs, especially if you have a beloved keepsake timepiece you want to continue using.
I'm taking the time to write a review on Lentz House of Time because of the wonderful experiences I have had with their service over the past few years. I recently took my 1965 Rolex in for a complete overhaul, the fourth since I purchased the watch. The first was done in Coral Gables, the second in Winter Park (where the jeweler sent it to Switzerland), the third in Gainesville. All three overhauls were performed well. The routine was the same: take the watch in to the shop, wait several few weeks, then pay. My experience with Michael at LHT was extraordinarily different. He examined the watch when I took it in, told me what would probably be needed. I agreed and expected to wait a few weeks to get the call it was ready. To my surpise he kept in contact with me via telephone and email during the process, sending me photos of worn parts, and advising me of his progress. After overhaul was completed, the watch was on the timing bench for a few days to ensure it stayed within the parameters of Rolex's "superlative chronometer" endorsement. Finally, the day arrived to pick up my watch. Michael showed my an array of photos and videos he had taken of the internals as the overhaul progressed. For me, a true fan of a fine timepiece, it was amazing to see the inner workings on a large screen display. At my request he described each part and function. It was a lesson in watchmaking! I'm extremely happy with this overhaul of my 55 year old watch. I was even given a small bag with all of the parts that were replaced. I can highly recommend LHT to anyone who values incredible service and attention to detail for their cherished timepiece.
These folks are fantastic! I have a Fortis B-42 that was losing 30 seconds a day. They took it apart, fixed the problem, saved the old parts, and took photos under a magnifier, to show me what was wrong with the old parts. Now my watch gains less than one second per day, which is more accurate than it was when it was new!
I have used Lentz exclusively since the mid 2000's. They are an accredited Better Business Bureau shop. I have had them perform various functions such as battery replacements, watch repairs and band link removals/installs. The staff has always been courteous, friendly, knowledgeable and continue to provide me excellent service.
This place is amazing! I always get the best service no matter what kind of watch I bring in. The owners are the sweetest people you'll ever meet and they will educate you on whatever you want to know about your watch or clock. They also have the best grandfather clocks. So glad we came here a few years ago and that we can keep coming.
Every one in the place was nice and polite. They LISTENED to me, understood my concerns and needs, and proceeded to satisfy those needs. Lentz is my new go to time keeper place!!!
I would recommend them to everyone who needs time devices, new , old, rrepairs.
I've had the privilege and honor to know and work with Michal Blaszczyk while at Richemont North America. Michal was instrumental in providing an exemplary training program for those new to the horology industry. With patience, understanding and a strong dedication to his craft, he shared a glimpse into that world. I appreciated his absolute commitment to performing every task to his utmost ability. Michal personified the professionalism rarely seen amongst experts today, regardless of their industry. Unabashedly, I would place my faith in his ability to handle a watch of the utmost monetary value and/or those of a priceless sentimental value.
My family ladies Elgin pocket-watch from 1911 quit working. I was referred to Lentz House of Time from a friend who dealt with them while working in a jewelry store. Chris and the store staff have been amazing. The watch needed a complete overhaul and a new main spring. Great communication and very accommodating. They have kept me apprised along the way, even allowing me the pleasure to see its progress. I can’t say enough good things about this place. So lucky to have their talent local! Many thanks!
This place rocks. Great customer service. The nicest lady from Poland I believe, waited on me. I return just to talk to her about cool watches. Reminds of the way service use to be. Thank you for allowing me to enjoy you and your shop.
Amazing experience at Lentz today! I wanted a new battery for my Fossil watch. I was sick of digging through my purse to find a phone or iPad just to see the time of day. Ana assisted me immediately. There was no wait, the labor and battery were $26 + tax. To my delight, I arrived about five minutes till the top of the hour and got to enjoy all the grandfather clocks and cuckoos going off!
Crooks!! Took them several watches for repair/adjust, they just told me to buy new watches! Instead of working on them. They also have no idea about watches had to keep telling them my watches where automatics.
True crooks!! Went in to get watch battery replaced , they told me because of it being an expensive watch it required special battery and tools. Gave me a quote of 50.00 and to leave watch. I went to Walgreens 2.17 for battery and replaced in parking lot in my car. The whole job took me 5 mins.
After reading some of the reviews, I was scared to walk into Lentz House of Time. However, I will say that I had nothing but a pleasant experience. I took in a clock that I purchased at an auction. I didn't know anything about the clock except I couldn't get it to work properly. Even though it turned out to be a cheap, made in China clock, the lady there was kind enough to look at it and tell me that it does work. She explained how to wind it and properly balance and display it. I would definitely go back there again.
So glad to see other people's experience in the "House of Loot's". Took my watch in to have the battery replaced, great, great, great grandma behind the counter told me I would have to leave it (RED FLAG). Never ever have I left my watch that I knew only needed batteries. I'm shocked this place is still in business. Want a good screw, take your clocks and watches to them.
My Wife and I went into Lentz, because she had gotten some moisture in her Tag watch. The Lady behind the counter just immediately looked at it and said the cost would be 800.00 to 900.00 to repair as it was ruined. The cost of the watch was around 1600.00 so to us the expense to repair was to costly. We left the store unsatisfied. We went to another shop and was told 400.00 at the max and that was if all parts had to be replaced. The final cost was only 65.00 with a new battery. The watch is now 3 month repair and is working fine. We feel the fast brush off from Lentz showed us the quality of the establishment. Oh I must mention, Lentz did a battery replacement in the watch about six months earlier at a cost of 80.00.
Impressive! I had two watches that I took to Lents. One needed a new battery and band the other needed a link taken out of it. I was expecting to drop the watches off and pick them up a couple of days later, nope! I was in-and-out in less than 30 minutes. The price for the work provided was more than worth it. The staff know their timepieces exceptionally well and I won't take mine to any other store in town. Highly recommend!
These people are watch snobs and full of you know what. Told me my watch was junk ( $400 automatic ) , something was seriously wrong with the movement hen tried to sell me a Citizen with the same movement. Stay away unless you have an $$$ Swiss watch.
I rarely trust anyone with my 200 year old clock, but I took it to Lentz, where there is a very knowledgeable expert in repairing clocks. She let me visit my clock, and explained to me that it had not been properly repaired through the years, because its wooden parts had been replaced by woods that were not correct for the time of manufacture. I was quite impressed; this isn't just a sales room; it's a true clock hospital.
