My piano lessons with Adrian are one of the funnest parts of my week. He gets exactly what I want to do with playing and has been so supportive in helping me get there, and the lessons are always just mellow and great (except when I get frustrated trying to do something, and he is supportive then too). I'd even sign my kids up for lessons with him if zoom lessons weren't so tough for kids. Highly recommend!
I signed up for the private tutoring package with Adrian as I had just missed the start of the 4 week beginner course. Having zero experience whatsoever, I found our session to be incredibly helpful. It was obvious Adrian has been doing this for a while, as he had me playing chords after only 30 minutes of music and piano fundamentals.
Since theres only so much that can be accomplished in an hour, a large part of what you pay for is found in the notes package he tailors after your session. I will probably be using this package for quite some time as I build my knowledge and skill, so I found the whole experience to be well worth the price. I would recommend the private session with the caveat that you probably have to be self motivated to do the work after. But I would recommend Adrian to anyone. Hes a fantastic teacher.
We were nervous about doing virtual lessons at first because my son has never taken piano before but the teacher he was given has done an amazing job of being patient and showing him how to play through Zoom. We were without and Keyboard one day and the school let us borrow one. It's been a great experience so far and my son improves each week. He really enjoys class too!
Keylab is awesome! My daughter started attending during the summer of 2019. I figured it was a 1 week commitment, let's try it and see. She loved it so much. that we signed her up for additianal weeks that summer. She then asked to join the aftershcool program once summer was over. When COVID hit and the afterschool program could not go on, Adrian offered us virutal lessons. Her teacher Sam Talamage has been wonderful and she has compsed a couple of songs on the ukuele and learned several Beatles songs (she's a big fan). I highly recommend for virutal lessons during this strange time.
My two kids take piano and drum lessons from Adrian. They love their lessons and are having a tremendously positive experience learning music. I also take piano lessons from Adrian - he is a brilliant teacher.
My 13 year-old son is in Keylab's Stemistry after school class. He enjoys the class - he feels challenged and interested every week. He is always eager to go (ready to drop video games for it!!) and when I asked if he wanted to sign up for the Spring term he said "Definitely!" From a parent's perspective I see that there is a really good balance of instruction and freedom to create - the class also seems to individualize well and each student is able to proceed at a pace that makes sense for them yet the whole class works. As well, Adrian and Cindy are very responsive and flexible whenever we have questions or scheduling issues. I really, really recommend Keylab's classes!!
This past school year I enrolled my 5 year-old daughter in Keylab's after school program unsure of what her commitment level would be. Actually, I was 90% sure she would want to quit. She's wanted to quit everything I've signed her up for - dance classes, piano lessons at home, swim lessons... After her first day there, she came beaming out of a studio telling me how much she loved the programming at Keylab. Not only that, she has been saying this continuously for the past 4 months. When asked if she'd rather spend the afternoon doing her favorite thing instead of going to Keylab's after school program in 2017, she answered she'd rather go to Keylab. I'm not sure what kind of magic goes on there that keeps her engaged and excited, but it is truly magic. She comes home after Keylab and shares many stories about her experience there and doesn't want to leave when I pick her up. The staff have been accommodating, responsive and engaged with children and parents. The facility is beautifully decorated and maintained and there is always a warm welcome when you walk through the door. I can't thank the staff enough for enjoying my child as much as they do, but especially for my child's enjoyment when she's with them.
I have been taking Jazz piano lessons with Adrian for a year now and
there has been a great progress in not just my playing and technique,
but also in my understanding of music in general. Jazz harmonies and
improvisation theory could be very intimidating to a beginner, but thanks
to Adrian's vast teaching experience, he has a way to convey them in
a systematic manner which is easily comprehensible. In this age of
internet where one can find all the information for learning for free,
it is not information that we seek in a teacher, but how it is to applied
and come up with a efficient practice routine to master them. Adrian
does just that. In addition to guiding to the right resources, his key
strength in my opinion is he tells me exactly what to practise, how it
is to be practised, and he has not once digressed from that flow, which i found
lacking in my previous teachers who would throw a bunch of jargon
in a lesson and forget about them and move on to new things without any
plan. If you are looking for a systematic way to tackle the chaos that
is Jazz, I would recommend booking a lesson with Adrian.
