I participated in a virtual Self Defense Class and it was AMAZING! I had never taken a class like that before, so was definitely a beginner by all definitions. Ana took the time to clearly communicate the stances, hand movements and methods to make sure all defensive moves were done properly, which was very impressive since this was done virtually. She encouraged me to step out of my "female shell" and embrace the "if you mess with me, I will defend myself till the end" mindset. Little did I know how badly I needed to learn how to tap into that. We punched pillows, imagined burglars, fought them off and yelled from deep within. I have since taught these techniques to friends and family members who were not in the class and each time I do, I feel like a total badass!! I HIGHLY recommend Fit and Fearless. Hopefully I can attend a class in person soon!
Outstanding workout, outstanding self defense training, outstanding instructors and facility, and a great group of people to train with. No one is not fit enough or too fit to get the most out of a workout, whether the work out takes the form of "krav fit", which seems to be fairly similar to cross fit, or one of their self defense classes, which primarily focus on krav maga (a definite contender for the best modern day self defense martial art of self defence is your goal), but they do not limit their instructors to krav, so you can work on ju jitsu skills, mma attack combos, or attend active shooter seminars and the like.
A perfect fit for Austin, the instructors and staff are personable and open minded, and host regular "meet and greets" where students and instructors can enjoy their new family's company at a theme park, a lake side bbq, playing laser tag, or any number of other frequently scheduled activities.
When I moved back to Austin post grad school I knew that I wanted to find something similar to my previous gym, something that was not solely cardio/fitness based but also skill-based. After my trial class at Fit and Fearless I knew that this was exactly what I was looking for and signed up the same day. Eight months later I am even more in love with this place. Not only am I becoming stronger and building my skill set, but there is also a sense of community here. I have never felt so encouraged and connected at a gym, and I truly look forward to class every time. So glad I found you FnF!
Krav Maga has given me a lot of freedom. I have a past of coping with anxiety and trauma—so I wondered if self defense might help. I tried out Fit and Fearless’ Women’s self defense class and I’ve been hooked ever since. The instructors are consistent, clear, and caring—acknowledging and encouraging progress throughout training. They are also exceptional at responding to needs and respecting boundaries. The gym has so many options for every level of training and they promote community over competition. Before I started training, I’d have nightmares about being attacked or targeted—I’d try to hit back and just feel powerless. Now, as cheesy as it sounds, I barely have nightmares. And on the rare occasion that I do, I can finally put up a good fight. I highly recommend F&F if you’re looking for a safe environment to learn self defense or if you want to challenge yourself with a new skill. A popular reason people choose Krav Maga can be defined by the founder of the technique, Imi Lichtenfield: “so that one may walk in peace.” F&F’s community ensures that you will always walk in peace, and that you’ll never walk alone.
About a year ago a friend invited me for a free class and I immediately fell in love with this place. Great people, great atmosphere and the work outs are amazing! I used to go to the gym but didn’t see any changes, the instructors here really push your limits and motivate you and have amazing challenges! I absolutely recommend Fit and Fearless! Thank you Brandon and Jessica y’all are AWESOME!
I love Fit and Fearless! I started here with some nervousness because I wasn't in great shape, and I don't like typical gyms with a bunch of machines and "one size fits all" instruction. I was so happy to find a safe, encouraging environment with people of every size, shape, weight and age, all working to find their best self. At Fit and Fearless, we can learn self-defense Krav Maga, ground fighting Jju Jitsu techniques, and kickboxing. There are lots of opportunities for sparring and even one-on-one training available. There are fitness classes--Heavy Bag, Combatives Conditioning, and Krav Fit--that are aimed at getting you to your goals. AND what I love most is the staff who are here to motivate, teach, and applaud you along the way! Making friends in class and at monthly Meet & Greet events, participating in team and individual challenges, and getting to know our amazing instructors...this is what makes Fit and Fearless THE BEST! Hope to see you there!
I signed up for the 6 week challenge and haven't looked back. FnF is a gem of mom and pop gyms. Brandon and Jessica do an amazing job organizing incredible instructors and programming to keep you challenged and feeling great. Regardless of your work schedule you can find something that works for you. No matter what level you are, instructors and class mates are always helpful. Whether technique or accountability, there is always a balance to keep you on track. Thank you Brandon, Jessica and all of FnF!
Joining the Fit & Fearless family has been the most life-changing, positive experience ever. From the very start, I was welcomed, encouraged, motivated and guided to reach all my goals. Attending my weekly practices and classes is the highlight of days. I am able to get an amazing workout while at the same time making new friends, and learning how to defend myself from real life scenarios. I would highly recommend anyone push excuses outside and try a free class, experience the benefits for yourself!
I have found my sanctuary here in Austin, Fit and Fearless has so much to offer it's members. In the past four years I have advanced in kickboxing, sparring and grappling at this gym and I feel much more confident out in public. I feel I can protect myself better and defend against unwanted attention, especially persons bigger than myself. To walk without fear is our motto! Besides the challenging workouts, I have made family here, and I don't know where I would be without them. We support one another to the fullest, and always plan get-togethers outside of the gym. They gym is something that brought us all together, and we continue to strive for more success whether it be competing against one another, or having each other's back. No matter if you're in a good mood or a bad one, you will leave this gym smiling. The community is no joke. I love it here more than any other gym in Austin. XOXOXO
Fit and Fearless is a wonderful gym, centered around elevating your physical and mental wellbeing through fitness. The instructors are thorough, motivational, and approachable, and the classes un-intimidating, 'self-paced', and packed with power. I have never developed strength or confidence in one place more, and highly recommend FnF for ANYONE of ANY SIZE looking to improve their health.
I’d highly recommend going to Fit and Fearless! They have the best Krav Maga teachers. And their challenges are super effective I took one of their challenges and was able to lose a ton of weight. So much weight that I had to buy a new wardrobe because my skinny pants were falling off and it looked like I was swimming in my skinny shirts. Brandon and Jessica make self defense a top priority while keeping it balanced with fun. Love Fit and Fearless!
This is such a great gym for several reasons. All of the instructors are highly trained, passionate and committed to the success of their students. The owners are a really kind and dedicated couple who pour their hearts into this gym and the people who visit. The classes range from crossfit style workouts, kickboxing and self defense classes. They have members of all fitness levels and it is a supportive environment for anyone looking to get started in fitness. I've definitely learned several self defense techniques and feel a lot more confident in my ability to defend myself. Definitely check it out, they offer the first class free.
Actually signed up for the 42 day challenge because I lost a bet with a friend but ended up enjoying the gym and lost over 20 lbs with doing multiple classes a day 3x week. Definitely a enjoyed the change of pace and scenery.
Did the 6 week challenge a few months ago, and it really paid off! I exceeded my target body fat percentage after just 3 weeks (4% loss target, I was at 4.3% loss), and continued to improve my body for the remained til I ended at a whopping 6.1% loss! The meal program is easy to follow, and not did not cost me anymore than what I was already paying for groceries (less even)! The workouts are intense, and so fun. Anyone can meet their goals here!
I started with their 42 day fitness challenge about 38 days ago and am already down 18 pounds and over 5% body fat from my start date. The meal plan they provide and the fitness classes are excellent! Also, the coaches do a great job keeping track of your progress and holding you accountable for your goals. Best part, when you hit your goal, the program is completely free! So, if you’re looking for a way to get in shape quickly before summer, try Fit and Fearless!
Austin is lucky to have such a high quality facility with amazing instructors. They offer personalized instruction that will challenge all skill levels. The community is supportive and fun-great energy. Locally owned and awesome!
This place is amazing! World class training, nutrition, and accountability are second to none, but the family atmosphere is what keeps me coming back. I have gained so much confidence, not just because of how much weight I've lost, but also because I'm learning how to defend myself. Do yourself a favor and check them out!
Fit and Fearless has some of the best fitness instruction in Austin. Whether you're looking to wear yourself out on the heavy bag, receive some high quality Krav Maga and Martial art instruction, or lean out with some "boot camp" style workouts you will be thoroughly satisfied at this gym. I did the 6 week challenge unsure of how much I had to gain from the gym, but ended up losing over 8% body fat in 6 weeks and significantly advancing my fitness and fighting abilities
I found FnF through their six week challenge. It was six weeks of hard work, discipline, and empowerment that lead to me signing up for a membership.
All of the instructors are awesome, and encouraging. The Krav Maga classes are practical and emphasize safe techniques as well as self defense. The challenge classes push the body as well as build up strength during the challenge. This gym gave me such a positive experience and the community is made up of great people.
Full disclosure: I am an instructor at FnF. I joined the 6 Week Challenge to be able to answer questions for the students & support them, but didn't really expect much in the way of results for myself. Then I ended up losing 6% bodyfat! I'm happy to be able to say from my own experience that the Challenge is a great way to jumpstart any changes you'd like to see in your fitness and nutrition. And Jessica will make your success a priority. If you're at the studio and have questions, please ask me because I've walked the road and will be very happy to help you!
This place is great! It’s clean, it’s homey, and the people are awesome too. Krav Instructors clearly care about your wellbeing and want to teach you combatives as correctly as possible to avoid injury. Challenge classes are all about running yourself as hard as possible. My first class kicked my butt, but my last class is tomorrow and I’ve never felt more comfortable in my own skin.
Several years ago, I did Krav Maga for a while and really enjoyed all the positive benefits. Looking to get back into it, I needed a gym with a variety of times and skill level classes. This place has it! Great instructors, awesome programs and a family friendly environment. In 6 weeks, I've lost 6 lbs and several % points of body fat. Give this place a try...it doesn't disappoint.
I cannot say enough good things about this place. 3 weeks into a 6 week challenge, I quit my gym membership and joined full time. This is more than a gym. It's a family. I have learned to defend myself, gotten into shape and feel confident when i'm walking alone. The skills you learn here are invaluable.
Fit and fearless is truly amazing. I’ve been going for over a year and LOVE the classes, instructors (especially Jeff who I take almost all my classes with!), workout, and of course, my ever-increasing ability to defend myself. This should be a must for every woman— you feel so supported and empowered!
Highly recommend this place! Why?
In Short: Training is awesome, Instructors are awesome and your partners are awesome.
The lengthy version:
A couple of weeks ago I was looking for something challenging and fun at the same time. I went to the gym in Germany but here I couldn’t get used to it - and I got one around the corner within my apartment complex. So different ideas came up but the most promising was Krav Maga. I haven’t done self-defence or martial arts since I was a little kid but I still remember how demanding it could be.
Since I got a bigger frame, I was not sure if this was the right way to go or not so the first visit was a 50/50 thing. Should I stay or should I go? I mean, I’m new to this and so on…
Luckily I went over there and the whole experience from checking in, getting the tour and taking the first class was awesome. First I thought everyone is a Master in the class and I’m the new guy who looks like a turtle on the ground. But fear not, you are joining others in class 1 which are probably just as new as you are. We got all the different ages and sizes here so no excuse or worries. The instructors are so helpful and always ready to show you how to do certain things, they really take care of the class and thats what got me signing up for a membership.
Stop by, don’t be afraid and you’ll see what I mean - that's all I can say and the 1 session is free!
Really, the biggest selling point for me was the group in the class and the instructors I had so far. Shout out to Francisco, Liz and Brad - you guys are awesome!
It’s fun and its demanding - but thats what you are looking for anyways! See you this week!
I grew up training Jeet Kune Do and then a few years ago a friend of mine introduced me to Krav Maga.
I loved it. It felt like the perfect compliment to my JKD training. So I decided to start looking for gyms.
My #1 priority was to find a place that taught effective Krav Maga (as opposed to just a fitness version) while also being full of friendly, down to earth training partners without a lot of ego going on.
From the moment I started training at Fit & Fearless it felt great. I work in the evenings, so the fact that it has noon classes was perfect for me. And the instructors give you a lot of attention. Plus, several of them have other martial arts styles under their belts as well. So there's a good amount of knowledge to pull from.
I recently tested to become a Level 2 student. The test was hard but this place is no McDojo either. You know you earned it.
Even though I grew up training in martial arts, Krav Maga is great for beginners. So even if you've never done it before, you should come in and try it.
This place is awesome! They specialize in the Isrealy Army's martial art, Krav Maga. They also put some fitness emphasis on it too. They have classes for ages 4 - adult. My 8 year old son has been going twice a week for about 6 months now, and he loves it! I notice a huge difference after about a month in. His hand/eye coordination has greatly improved, and he has a lot more confidence! We will be enrolling my 4 year old this year. If I can free up some time, I'm going to start too.
Took my first Krav Maga class with Jeff and absolutely loved it. I'm not from the area but would most certainly be a part of Fit and Fearless gym if I were. Everyone is so friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!
Joining the Fit & Fearless community is one of the best decisions I've made since I moved to Austin. After only a few weeks of attending Krav Maga classes, I already felt equipped to defend myself in a violent situation. As a busy college student, F&F offers classes at convenient times and at an affordable cost, making it easy to incorporate into my schedule. I've been at F&F for a year now, and it feels like one big family. Highly recommend this gym if you're looking for self-defense or even just a good workout!
Fit and Fearless is a great place with a strong sense of community and responsibility. You will train with people older or younger than you and people that are in better or worse shape than you are but you'll all do it together. The instructors all have something different to offer and will encourage you to do your best without pushing you to injury. The schedule is widely varied so there is always something going on. Check them out and have fun while you get in better shape and learn new skills.
Tremendous workout! Great staff that will keep you motivated through the class, and a wide variety of classes to keep you coming back. IF it is your first visit, make sure to bring some water. Real community/family feel.
Fit and Fearless is the best for self defense! I've been to 3 other self defense gyms in Austin and this is by far the best structured, most practical, and absolutely the best workout. They focus on technique as well as endurance.
I've been a member here for about 1.5 years and have seen my endurance increase dramatically. I've learned some great skills and am continually challenged to improve. The beginning of class is an intense warm up, followed by some basic skills, and then a real life scenario drill. You really never know when you'll need these skills, so the practical real life drills really bring everything home.
Robins level 1 classes are amazing. She focuses on technique and makes sure we all have fun while we are there. She spends a lot of time one-on-one with the students to ensure any questions they have get answered and they are continuously improving.
Where did Liam Neeson learn those skills that saved his daughter in Taken? How did Matt Damon become unstoppable and unbeatable in The Bourne Identity? I'd say they must have taken Robin's classes. Robin is an awesome instructor and she challenges you to push yourself. Try her class and your only regret will be that you didn't try it sooner.
Fit & Fearless is a community. One pillar of it, in particular, is Parker Westbrook -- my favorite instructor. All of the instructors are fantastic in terms of their technique and teaching ability, but Parker provides stories. She's able to make a technique or drill make sense and become relevant. She embodies the first principle of Krav Maga and that's to avoid a fight in the first place. Everything becomes a game in her class and she always has a new trick up her sleeve. Her classes are far more tactical and teach you self-possession and craftiness. She encourages us to run like crazy and cheat our way through any drill, wherever possible, because there is no such thing as cheating in Krav. The brain never goes autopilot in her classes and her workouts rarely ever feels like exercise because of that. She is as kind as she is powerful; always making herself available to students and is very supportive for problems happening outside the classroom as well. The confidence and reassurance you walk away with is much more salient.
I've been a member at Fit & Fearless for about a year now & it has been a transformative experience. I was looking for way to get a good workout with real world practicality and self-defense seemed like a useful skill to have on hand. The staff and members are very welcoming and helpful to beginners. That made it easy to keep coming back for another intense hour of Krav. The group lesson format allows for everyone, regardless of experience, to push themselves beyond their personal limit. All of the instructors are skilled at explaining technique and drilling us to perform under stress and fatigue to develop a fighting spirit. Every instructor has their own teaching style and it's helpful to get different perspectives on the system. One instructor I'd like to spotlight is Robin. In Level 1 class, her method of teaching combatives and defenses is easy to understand and repeat. In Combatives Conditioning, her tabatas and functional exercises will totally wipe you out and get your endorphins flowing. Her music selection is motivational, too. Anyway, if you are considering learning self-defense, this is the place to do it. After a trial session, you'll know if it's for you.
Best place to get a great workout, meet good people, and stay in shape. All the instructors really care about their students and are great at what they do. Good classes that are always something new and exciting. So if you want to stay/get in shape and make some new friends, this is the place!
I cannot say enough about how much I love Fit & Fearless. I joined in June 2012 with an objective to lose weight and get fit. What I got was that and so much more. I lost over 100 pounds in 6 months and gained an incredible life skill and some wonderful friendships. I have done boxing and kickboxing classes in the past but was looking for something different. I love the practical application of Krav Maga. Classes are split between a cardio warm-up, high intensity skill work and drills, and self-defense techniques. Each class is different - learning to protect against strikes, kicks, chokes, headlocks, knives, guns, and group attacks. In addition to Krav Maga, Fit and Fearless offers Combatives Conditioning, KO Bag, Yoga, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and Crossfit. I typically go to F&F twice a day (morning and night) and often do a double hitter in the evenings. This is so much more than a gym - they do such a great job of creating a community where everyone knows each other and enjoys special events at the gym and around Austin. Everyone - the owners, program managers, instructors, and classmates are absolutely wonderful, supportive, and encouraging and will push you to work hard and continually improve. I work in far NW Austin, and chose where I live to allow me to be within a reasonable distance of this gym because I love it that much. You will love it too!
I joined Fit and Fearless in January 2013 after a friend recommended trying Krav Maga and from the first lesson I loved it! It's a great combination of exercise and self-defense techniques, and there is no ceremony to it. It's purely about how to defend yourself in the most efficient way possible (which is usually to be aggressive right back). Fit and Fearless have always been friendly and welcoming. I've visited other studios and the machismo is overwhelming - F&F are like an extended family. You'll quickly get to know the staff and instructors on a first name basis -and they'll know you - and you'll have fun at their social events too. There's a reason that so many women attend their classes. I highly recommend you try them out for a couple of classes - you'll probably stay!
I love Fit and Fearless. I get to work out next to really great people who I now consider close personal friends, I get to learn important skills taught by people who know what they're doing, I get to have fun, and on top all of that I get a great workout. I get unsure about things really quickly. Having never done any kind of martial arts or crossfit training before, I never had second thoughts or felt unsure about coming to class the next day. If anyone is looking for a place to stay active, you're really doing yourself a disservice by not at least giving it a try.
