The working out well this Foundation is a wonderful organization that keeps me moving. If it were not for them, I would be a statue unable to move. I cannot speak highly enough for what they do for us as Disabled persons, and for me is one of those people.
I’m blessed to have taught yoga to the members of WOW since 2003. I’ve seen how supportive they are of each other in all circumstances. WOW is using its resources to make sure that everyone gets to continue the oh-so-important exercise sessions during COVID-19. I encourage you to support and participate and share in every way you can!!
Working on Wellness foundation focuses on health by offering classes specific to the needs of MS participants. I appreciate the opportunity to join a class where I can exercise while in a chair. The instructors have an understanding of the challenges I face and offer different ways of performing the exercise to be beneficial to me. I am thankful for this group, OPHFC and the excellent instructors.
I can't say enough about the Working on Wellness Foundation. I have enjoyed both the Aquatic aerobic classes and the strength class in a safe environment. Now that Covid 19 has made people wary about attending large group classes they are providing zoom classes to do in the privacy of my own home. They also provide help with monthly membership dues to make it possible for people with disabilities to be able to afford the cost of a membership at the fitness center. Being a part of these group classes has helped me mentally, physically and spiritually.
The classes have helped me maintain the mobility and strength to face the challenges of Multiple Sclerosis.
From my experience, I think the "Working on Wellness Foundation" does really wonderful things. My wife, Coleen, has had MS for many years. She has worked out at the Orland Park Health Fitness Center with their MS Aqua class for a long time. That is where we first encountered the "Wellness Foundation". Several of her classmates cannot really afford the dues and costs of belonging to the club. Without fail, the "Foundation" has helped them financially. They're are super about lending that helping hand whenever someone is in need. They now sponsor on-line ZOOM exercise and YOGA classes because of Covid-19. Those classes have exercise routines tailored to all ability levels. It's a great foundation worthy of everyone's support.
I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2016. Everything I read said “EXERCISE, EXERCISE, EXERCISE”. I retired from my job in downtown Chicago & joined Orland Park Health & Fitness Center. I started participating in the Parkinson’s classes & discovered that we were our own support group.
Working on Wellness Foundation started additional PD & MS classes at the fitness center & they are fantastic! After COVID-19 hit & closed everything down, Working on Wellness set up online exercise classes four days a week for MS/PD via ZOOM. THANK GOODNESS Working on Wellness stepped up!
I stopped feeling like a blob & started moving again. Working on Wellness is terrific.
I can’t say enough about how much I love and appreciate Working On Wellness Foundation! Before the pandemic hit they were helping people who medically need the Orland Park Health & Fitness Center but needed help with their membership dues. That alone is an amazing undertaking. They REALLY stepped up to the plate when COVID-19 hit. Because of their knowledge of what people need to keep moving, they initiated a ZOOM class to keep us moving! The four times a week classes are very well attended. The instructors that the Foundation were able to get are very knowledgeable about the needs of people with MS and Parkinson’s Disease. I know how weak I would be if I didn’t have these classes and for that I am extremely grateful!
I have had MS for nearly 30 years. I have been a member of the MS group at the Orland Park Health and Fitness Center for several years and participate in the MS aquatics classes. The benefits of being in the pool cannot be overstated. I can move much more freely being supported by the water. I can do exercises in the pool that I can't do on dry land. But, there's more to our group than just the aquatics. We have many social gatherings through out the year. It's a chance to be with others who have MS and get moral support. The get togethers really lift everyone's spirits! It's not just a support group, it's also a place to exchange information and a chance to be outside the house and visit with friends. Please give it a try!!
