Great food, awesome outdoor ambiance (it's in an industrial park but they have a cute outdoor setup with plants & tables, just be ready for loud cars & trucks rumbling by sometimes). Wonderful people work there. I highly recommend.
Mike and his crew are fantastic! I used to work along side his amazing wife a few years ago. From chef to chef the foods a 10/10 knock out and can easily please a crowd. There’s something about the atmosphere that makes the food taste that much better!! Perfect 1st date spot or anniversary destination!

Initially, I was not a fan. I was able to drop by when they were fairly new. Had a Philly I think? It was quite awhile ago but all I remember is that it was extremely salty. Decided to give it another go and got a burger. Burger was decent. Moved from 2 stars to 3. With this progression, I can for sure bet that I'll be back again to see if I like it even better.
EVERY. TIME. I go, I am more impressed. It started with bottomless mimosas....I mean does one need more? But then the food comes out. Everything has been remarkable. Reasonable prices. Great ambiance (even if we need to eat outside) and incredible staff. The Cellar is our go-to now.
Disappointed after reading such great reviews and getting great feedback from a best friend. First time visit and I live in town and probably won’t be back. Waitress acknowledged she is brand new but attentiveness was NIL. Once food was served she never came back to check on how things were or ask us if we needed more water on a day when it’s 93 degrees. Empty plates were removed by a gentleman and then he closed us out. Not even by the waitress. Experience - no bueno.
The chicken sandwich is amazing. Kimchi aioli and fresh pickles are a game changer. The spiral fries are perfectly crispy and soft on the inside. Can’t wait to try out the other items on the menu. Delicious and perfect portion!!
Stopped into today met one of the owners very pleasant guy.staff was amazing and the food was stellar.would highly recommend the food here.i will be back for sure.its a little off the beaten path but well worth it
Tonight was the first night we did dine “in” at The Cellar. It was AMAZING!! The food, the service, everything was fantastic....best Fish & Chip I have ever had!! Thanks Jen for an amazing experience ????
WOW! The food is absolutely AMAZING! Great, clean, delicious food! Ordered over 1/2 the dinner menu and shared among 3 adults like appetizers and we still had leftovers! Perfect balanced cuisine...what a delightful treat! I will definitely go back when I am in the area! Thank you
My family and I just had the BEST meal from the Cellar we are a family of 6 so we had a big order. When we got home we realized we were missing one of our items so we contacted the cellar and they had a new one ready for us shortly and included a bottle of wine to make up for the mistake. The food was fantastic and everyone was so friendly and helpful ???? so grateful to have restaurants like this still open ????
The Cellar is a fabulous new restaurant in Benicia! Tucked off of Stone Road, it boasts a casual atmosphere, welcoming staff that treat you like friends, and knock-out chef!! Chef Mikey’s eclectic, “out-of-the-box” menu offerings may seem “familiar” -comfort foods like barbecue pork sandwich or mac and cheese - but believe me, they’re a whole new dining experience! We’ve visited a number of times and everything we’ve eaten has been incredible. I know, lots of superlatives, but totally justified!
The Cellar is quite simply a delightful find for the most discerning foodies any time, any time.
And now, as we are honoring each other by practicing social distancing and staying home, The Cellar is offering a very welcome pick up menu. While not as extensive as their regular dine-in menu, everything is fabulous! They are also offering family dinners for four Monday through Friday. Check out the website.
Stopped in to try a new local eatery and it won’t be our last. Menu has a favorite of comfort foods and local beer. My husband and I had the hamburger and loved it. Fresh ingredients and delicious toppings. Definitely coming back for some Ahi Poke and to check out the live music venue.
I'm from New Zealand always looking for good Fish & Chips like home and boy there's are so close, really good. Funky spot, but I'd recommend trying it. Hubby had Pulled Pork and it was yummy. Great beers as well.
The Cellar is under new management. On a whim, we decided to stop by for a quick bite and a beer late yesterday afternoon after seeing a Facebook post inviting people to come by to watch the 49ers game. The restaurant is in an industrial area of Benicia (off 680), but Google Maps made it easy to find. The pub/restaurant definitely has a warehouse vibe during the day, but develops a cozier, more intimate feel in the evening, with overhead strings of Edison lights and table groupings set up for dinner.
Even though the new owners were in the process of getting ready for their first reservation-only prix fixe dinner (steak and Dungeness crab no less!), they were welcoming and eager to serve us from their regular menu (we hadn’t made reservations for dinner).
We ordered a gem lettuce wedged salad (beautifully presented with heirloom tomatoes, crispy thick bacon pieces, and a blue cheese dressing that contained lots of soft, tangy chunks of blue cheese), a baked mac-n-cheese (delicious creamy blend of cheeses served in a petite cast iron skillet), and a potato and cheese enchilada covered in a red mole sauce. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. (We would also highly recommend ordering a glass of the Bruehol porter on tap.)
If we hadn’t already had plans, I would have considered going back this morning for their Sunday brunch with bottomless Mimosas. Next time. :)
Check out The Cellar. It’s definitely worth the trip and we plan to visit again soon.
We had a great meal at the Cellar. This is off the beaten track, not part of the 1st street. As I understand it – this was a grand re-opening. What drew us was an add for a Saturday Night Special which this week was a full Dungeness crab, a pound of ribeye steak, delicious au gratin potatoes with a salad, broccolini, and a butterscotch pudding in a mason jar, and no corkage fee for wine (though their wine was 50% 0ff) FOR $85 per couple, what a deal. On top of that – there was a great musician (could use a tip jar) and the service was top notch. My understanding is that at least for now they will continue to be doing the Saturday Night Couples dinner at least for now but rotate the offerings - so there is a really good chance we will be back with our friends next week. My advice is to check this place out – but if you plan on doing the Saturday Night Special– please don’t take the center table because we intend to occupy it with our friends.
Out of the way place in an industrial park but the food was superb. Chef is not afraid to season. The salad was amazing, including pickled beets that were so special I would love to buy them to take home. The second course was a whole crab to be shared. The main was perfectly cooked rib eye that was seasoned so well. Served with delectable potato gratin and broccoli rabe. The desert was a molten lava cake but was more of an intensely flavored chocolate mousse. I would like to have had it cold with a dollop of whipped cream. Servers were personable and music was an added bonus. They waved the corkage fee so we brought our own wine. I hope they are successful. The food is delicious.
GREAT food! Was definitely much better than I expected and can’t wait to see the future special additions to their menu, which they said will change often. Quirky location, but well worth the drive, and we’re already making plans to go back! The perfect addition to Benicia
