We did the Bernese Oberland self guided trek with planning and reservation support through Alpenventures . It was a fantastic experience and for us surely the way to go. We are experienced hikers and not paid or compensated in any way for this review, we're just very happy with the company and the trip. Going with this Alpenventures unguided gave just the right amount of independence, challenge and support. and the whole adventure went off flawlessly. They recommend various possible routes, then handled the day to day planning and made lodging arrangements so we could focus on the hiking, the scenery, and the fun. They are very thorough in their preparation, able to adapt to our needs (e.g. we included a rest day mid hike to also do some sightseeing at the Jungfraujoch) and they made reservations at nice lodging and huts that were just right four our needs, budget and interests. Their staff are super friendly and responsive, there was no high pressure or upselling, just solid and practical advice. The hikes were incredibly scenic, challenging physically but doable with proper training, and nothing really dangerous. It was absolutely worth the money and saved us untold time and headaches compared to having to do all the prep and reservations ourselves. Plus, their supportive material was super helpful. We only wish we'd done this many more times and we will definitely go with them for our next trek.

Super knowledgeable and responsive, they put together perfect plans for hiking, chose great lodging within our budget and desires and the hiking was phenomenal. We are experienced hikers and backpackers but we fully believe people at any level of experience can have a great time, provided they do the training and follow the excellent guidance for equipment etc. that Alpenventures offers. We will DEFINITELY go with Alpenventures again for future treks and enthusiastically recommend them without any hesitation.

TMB 11 Day
Just got home and had an amazing time on our recent 11-Day TMB hike. The Alpenventures team helped us rebook for 2025 when we had a medical issue in 2024, which ended our hike early. The itinerary and all the accommodations were great, and we had no issues along the way. The e-guide and app are also helpful and easy to use. Hoping to do another hike in 2026!
Amazing trip!
Alpenventures Unguided provided a once in a lifetime trip. I would definitely use them again. We were given an eguidebook that provided everything we needed for the trip. Coming from a flat city we trained as best we could for 6 months—going to the gym with our backpacks and walking on the treadmill at the highest level, knee strengthening exercises (which kept our knees pain free), and hiking outdoors. This is a tough hike—steep inclines and rocky trails. Be prepared. Our hikes always took longer than the hours listed in guidebook. The food at lodges was great. Though we couldn’t take a shower at 3 of them. Overall, though, one of the best hikes ever!!
Trip of a lifetime made super easy with Alpenventures
My daughter and I hiked the AV1-4N Alta VIa 1 North. We found the tour as a Yard Sale, meaning someone had canceled their trip and it was available just 3 weeks before the date. In just 3 weeks we felt Alpenventures communicated so effectively, sending a PDF guide for our trip and recommendations for navigation app and so many details that we were completely prepared. The Rifuggios we were booked in were terrific and the hiking spectacular!
TMB 11 Day
Wow, this was such a great trip! Alpenventures reserved such great accommodations for us and made our entire trip so smooth. I would highly recommend them if you are considering doing the TMB! I cannot overstate how smooth everything was on our trip. We basically just enjoyed everything and had zero stress in terms of accommodations or routes. The navigation app was super easy and Alpenventures was so responsive and helpful on any of our pre trip questions.
Stress-free Hiking Experience
Alpenventures Unguided made the hiking experience easy and stress free. Having them take care of the logistics allows us the time to enjoy the beauty that surrounds us.
Great scenery and food on AV1
We were blown away by the spectacular scenery on the AV1. We have hiked in Patagonia, NZ, Iceland and Switzerland and this was better than all of them.
Alpenventures did a good job of preparing us and all their bookings worked out, with good food and acceptable accommodation.
Mile for mile, and foot for foot of ascent and descent the hiking was harder than we expected.
Perhaps in our late 60s we should not have rried to do the whole route. Alpenventures suggested an option to avoid a long day (from Malga de Pramper to Bianchet) by ending the hike with a walk from Malga to Forno di Zolda. This was a wise move and as it happened other people also bailed asthe weather turned rainy.

Trip of a lifetime!
We just finished the Hut to Hut Switzerland Relaxed itinerary and loved every moment. The hiking was challenging but very manageable and we were rewarded with the most amazing scenery we've ever experienced. Each day was very different and exciting. The huts were amazing and the hospitality, food, and beer was superb! The information and routes were very easy to follow and made the trip totally stress free. Can't wait to plan our next backpack trip.
Great time on the TMB 11-day Itinerary
Alpenventures Unguided did an absolutely fantastic job with our booking. All went so smoothly. They accommodated all my requests and answered all my pre-trip questions thoroughly and timely. I felt I had all the information needed. The navigation app worked perfectly and kept us on track. This is the second time we have used Alpenventures, and both times have been excellent. Oh, yeah...the hike was challenging at times, but extraordinary! Really enjoyed every day!

Good advice, but not experts
Once a trip is booked, the information provided for Huts and logistics is very general. For example, when we asked a question about needing cash or would card work, our contact person copy and pasted the answer from the eguidebook we were provided. For the cost, I would have thought the information received would be accurate and up to date. Our contact person prior to booking said she would assist with everything but that was not the case.
Not happy with Alpenventures
I have used other services that are much better at creating itineraries, responding, and answering questions. Alpenventures took days to respond to questions I had about my itinerary and their first response was generic, not pertaining to my specific itinerary at all. I would not recommend using them and will not be using them for any other adventures in the future.
Absolutely loved Alpenventures!!
We recently used Alpenventures to help organize our unforgettable 4 day, 3 night Alta Via 1 trek and they absolutely exceeded our expectations! From start to finish, they were incredibly easy to work with, always thoughtful and responsive in their communication.
This trip was extra special for us as it was our honeymoon, and Alpenventures made it even more memorable by surprising us with a bottle of Prosecco waiting at our rifugio. Such a thoughtful touch that meant so much to us.

We are a husband/wife (ages 52/46) who leave our 3 kids home at summer camp while enjoying these spectacular Alpenventures trips (2 summers in a row). We have been thrilled with both trips. We have felt safe, cared for, very comfortable, and totally blissful on these trips. The accommodations alone have been worth it! The extras like mid-hike milk baths, baby goats, spa stays, private cabins with delivered breakfast have been the surprise memories! We will absolutely be back for more Alpenventures in the future!

Our experience with Alepnventures was fabulous! All of the pre-trip planning and communications were thorough and detailed. It made us feel prepared and excited going into our trip to Switzerland. During the trip, we checked our e-guidebook and app constantly. We had one day where the weather was making us nervous, so we reached out via WhatsApp and Alpenventures responded thoroughly and immediately.
We would highly recommend and plan to work with them again!
In general, our hut and hiking experience was also incredible. Friendly people, beautiful landscapes, tasty meals and comfortable, clean huts.
Flawless planning
We came to alpenventures with a request that several other guide services refused to even consider - a 7 day tour du mont blanc in the shoulder season after many of the refuges were closed. They put together an absolutely perfect itinerary that allowed us to see many of the highlights of the trek, staying in wonderful refuges, and some extra bus transfers to make it all work. It would have been a monumental task for me to put together myself, but everything worked exactly as they laid out. Super grateful for all their help and planning, and will definitely use them the next time I'm doing any touring in the alps!

Best of the Dolomites - EPIC Adventure
Extremely happy with our 10 day Best of the Dolomites trip! Communication was wonderful throughout the process - I had a lot of questions before I booked. Prior to the trip we were kept up to date on trail conditions/changes and transportation strikes and during the trip after a freak snowstorm we were reminded to check our routes. It was wonderful not having to book all of the rifugios with all of their different timelines on our own. Lodging and food exceeded our expectations! Would definitely use Alpenventures Unguided again!
Fabulous Experience
We took the 12-day "Best of the Dolomites" trek in early September, adding in an extra rest day. Every day the landscapes were different, but all of them equally stunning. The accommodations were excellent and having the route planned and the lodgings pre-booked was such gift! All we had to do was pack and go. We can't say enough good things about Clara and Brittany and the service they provided. The app for using the gps tracks was excellent and included an accurate weather forecast feature. We met some other Alpenventures trekkers on our trip, and they werre equally impressed with their experiences.
Great adventure for solo travelers
Using Alpenventures Unguided was so easy. They sent helpful tips before and during the trip and it made it so easy to solo travel and have trust in everything I was doing.
Best of the Dolomites 9 day
My sister and I ran out of superlatives to describe the scenery, the huts, the food and the people. The entire route was spectacular with plenty of variety. The Rifugios were comfortable and offered a chance to meet other hikers from all over. I'd do it all again. Thanks!
One night is better than none!
We had the perfect trip planned. The views were incredible and the first nights Refugio was super. We headed off the next day and learned that the weather was going to change. When you see the cows being brought off the mountain you know something big is coming. Although we could whether the rain, snow was another story especially if you aren’t sure where you are going. It is important to be prepared but to also make smart decisions. Went to a hotel and had a fun time. Next day taxied to WWI museum and hiked down the hill to the gondola in the snow storm to eat lunch at that’s night Refugio. We did not stay the night but headed once again out of the mountains. Glad we got one day in, to see how beautiful the Dolomites are. Feel like we were well prepare and that Brittany, Clara and Lottie were super helpful!! Will try again!

All accommodation , trip guide , luggage transfers, the wonderful and easy to use app made the trip very simple and enjoyable.

Alta Via 1 - wonderful experience with the help of Alpenventures
We booked 4 days of Alta Via 1 quite late in the year already, but Alpenventures was able to secure sleeping spots in the best rifugio's. They really listened to our wishes, adapted the itinerary until we were completely satisfied with it, and this all in a very short timeframe. We received our guidebook a few weeks before the trip. This was complete and very clear, so we were prepared for our trip. There was a last minute change (not the fault of Alpenventures) in our stays, and they immediately booked another rifugio and made sure we got the price difference paid back very quickly. Very satisfied with their service, would 100% recommend!

Truly so great! A seamless travel experience thanks to Alpenventures. Was so easy to navigate and all the bookings were correct etc. Guidebook was helpful and thorough. Truly no complaints and we feel the value is very good for the service.

Brilliant way to explore Alta Via 1
Alpenventures made this dream so easy to achieve from booking, packing, and the actual hike! They were very responsive to emails and questions. As a solo hiker I felt very prepared and supported to complete it. Highly recommend! They only thing is the navigation app can be wildly inaccurate so recommend downloading a separate navigation app to double-check the paths.
Beautiful Secluded Scenery
We did a couples two-night culinary tour of the Austrian-Swiss alps and absolutely loved it. Unforgettable. We were so well layered up by Alpenventures with the map app and various communications with advice and safety tips it was all entirely worry-free. The food was good and the scenery was jaw-dropping. We would recommend this company to anyone and use them again for the Dolomites in a few years I think!
Wonderful experience
We had a group 4 looking for an adventure in the Dolomites. Alpen Ventures was so helpful each step of the way. We booked our trip a little late in the season, but they were very helpful when describing what options we had and with accommodating what kind of experience we wanted. I’ve booked a trip like this myself before and having it done for you was so amazing!
Blown away!
We didn't realize how lucky we were to stay at 2 of the 4 rifugios on our trip until other guests told us they weren't able to get beds. When I went online, it looked like other unguided tour companies didn't even offer to book them. All in all, we had an incredible trip and will HANDS DOWN use Alpenventures again for the next one!
Amazing tour of the TMB in 6 days
Tim and Brittany put together an amazing trip for us for 6 days and 5 nights on the TMB to do the entire trip. They provided an agenda and booked all the refugios. It was a perfect time and we appreciated all they did to help answer questions along the way.

Excellent customer service!
Even though I am a seasoned hiker and traveller, I valued the time I saved by using Alpenventures to find a good route and reserve the huts. Everything, including the vegetarian dinners and picnic lunches I had ordered in advance, went perfectly as planned. The customer service I received was excellent, especially the communication which was all done via email. The Alpenventures team also kept me updated on weather and track conditions before and during the trip. I have already recommended Alpenventures to friends, and I hope to use them again soon.
They made a Great trip EASY
While you can plan and orchestrate the TMB yourself, AlpenVentures made our trip easy! Despite a relatively late decision to do the TMB, when many accommodations were sold out, AlpenVentures was able to put together a great trip for us, taking into account our preferences, including dietary constraints. The information they provide (including planning, routing, lodging, and transportation options) is comprehensive and accurate. The accommodations and meals that AlpenVentures arranged were very good to excellent. AlpenVentures includes access to the Outdoor Active app which is preloaded with the your tour details and routes and works seamlessly off-line with low power consumption on IOS. Luggage delivery was exactly as advertised. We had NO surprises or problems, which is exactly what you want on a 110 mile trek. Kudos to AlpenVentures - Highly Recommended!
Perfect Mother-daughter trail running adventure
We asked Brittany to put together a customized four-day mother/daughter trail running adventure on the Alta Via 1 trail in the Italian Dolomites and it could not have gone more smoothly. The rifugios (especially Lavarella) were a dream, the navigation was easy to follow and we had a bag transported one night so we could swap out wet clothes for dry half way through and carry only lightweight Ultimate Adventure running packs. (It was a rainy first day so we were very glad we did this). Affordable and convenient. Highly recommend for trail runners who don't want a guide but don't have time to arrange all the logistics themselves.
As good as it gets!
We hiked hut-to-hut in the Dolomites on the 12-day relaxed itinerary….and are so glad that we did! We truly could not stop saying “Wow!” at every turn in the trail! We normally travel independently and were really pleased with the great job of planning and all of the information and tools that we needed. There was a lot of variety in the trails and the accommodations to keep things interesting, and we liked them all!. Everything went smoothly and we are only sorry the trip had to end! Alpenventures did an exceptional job preparing me for my first time in the Alps, and I’m stoked for the experience I had thanks to them. They found a way to plan a somewhat last-minute trip for me, set me up on a route I had never heard of but absolutely LOVED (Tour des Combine) that I never would have discovered without them. Brittany was fantastically responsive, and I really appreciated that she was very clear about what’s possible and what’s not realistic every time I through a random request and inquiry her way.
Their prep and orientation materials were EXCELLENT. I had never done hut hiking of any kind and I was very well prepared thanks to there videos and packing lists. I saw other hikers with lesser advice carrying so much extra weight and knew I could definitely be in their boots had I not followed Alpenventures’ advice.
Excellent support from AlpenVentures
Alpenventures experience, and its connections with the various potential stops on the TMB route, meant that hiking days were well-judged distances and there were great hotel or refuges at the end of the day. Access to the navigation app was particularly useful since it could be used offline.
Very professional organisation - do consider using: they will save you time, money and avoid mistakes.

Trip was absolutely incredible, booking with Alpenventures made it so easy and the navigation app and tour book they provided was really helpful. The cabins you stay in on this route are incredible, and we had the best night drinking beers overlooking a glacier and watching the marmots on the hill above Cabanne Panossière. Highly recommend!
Save yourself a world of trouble!
Our 10-day hike on the Alta via 1 was unforgettable. Day after day of jaw-dropping 360s, as well as the reassurance of knowing that you were headed toward a good meal and a warm bed. We had tried to make our own arrangements for this trip in January and quickly ran into snags because of refugio's that were closed, or others that had availability at times that didn't line up with each other. Brittany and her team made it all happen and presented it to us in a useful, user-friendly package. The app was particularly great for giving us confidence and visuals for seeing what we were up against each day. Highly recommended by our group of eight.

Dolomites Alta Via 1
An incredible family adventure hiking 4 days on Alta Via 1. Everything was organised by Alpenventures Unguided and played out seamlessly. While it was a big ask for our 6 year old, with a little help along the way we completed the 50km through the Dolomites and made some amazing memories as a family.
Can't recommend the Dolomites or Alpenventures Unguided enough!!!
