  David and Peggy were great hosts. Their home is beautiful and the gardens and trails were amazing. Our two dogs joined us and we all felt right at home. Shepherdstown is a great, dog-friendly escape and Sun Dogs B&B makes it that much more perfect.

  Beautiful and peaceful

  Its sooo beautiful and peaceful. If you bring ur dog they have all kinds of hiking trails. And don't forget to bring a bottle of your favorite wine to sit on the beautiful patio.

  Gizmo had a blast!!

  This dog-friendly B&B outside Harper’s Ferry was a great escape for the holiday weekend. All five rooms were full, and we had four other dogs with us, yet it was still peaceful and quiet. Everyone got along great, and there was TONS of yard space to have them all out at the same time. There were trails around the property leading to streams, an enclosure with a goat, and tons of wildlife spots. The flowers and plants were amazing and offered a lot of beautiful views. The fireflies at night were also gorgeous and fascinating to witness! The rooms were exceptional, and the environment was super clean all around. The food was incredible, and I am not normally a fan of eggs, but their farm-fresh eggs made the stay even better! Overall, Peggy and David were incredible hosts who were always there if needed. Also, you cannot beat the price!

  A highly recommended stay

  This bed and breakfast is amazing. The hosts Peggy and David are friendly and welcoming. The breakfasts were delicious and we so appreciated being at a vegetarian establishment. The surroundings are so beautiful with magnificent flowers and landscaping. It was so relaxing. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. We highly recommend a stay here.

  Beauitful property and accommodating hosts

  A delightful 2-day stay

  We were lucky to spend our 60th anniversary at Sundogs…it was a delightful two day stay where we enjoyed Peggy and David’s hospitality and yummy breakfasts! Beacher loved running off leash on the 40+ acres. We did feel just a little guilty reading while they tended their extensive gardens. Thanks for a memorable anniversary!

  Save yourself the time and book a room here! We had a wonderful stay and would recommend Sundogs to anyone looking for a nice getaway. I honestly thought that the pictures online, if anything, UNDERsold how nice the property and rooms are! The house itself was only built about 10 years ago and the love and care the owners have taken to keep the house, rooms, and gardens up really shows. It's a very clean place, plenty of modern touches without taking away from the classic B&B aesthetic, and breakfast was one of the best we'd had in our travels. The owners are nice and ready to help with any questions you may have about the surrounding area.

  Classy and clean. Lots of space, light, and great views. The house itself has plenty of rooms, lot's of natural light, and makes for a great time to just sit and relax or meet some other guests.

  Shepherdstown is just a short drive away. Kelly's Farm Kitchen is a bit further (in the next town) but it's a nice drive over. Lot's of walking trails on the property and the gardens and porch are great to get out on or just sit with your beverage of choice and relax on.
  Safety
  Key'd rooms, doors lock at 10pm and open at 5am (guests have a code to get in/out as needed though). Private parking for guests.
  Food & drinks
  Wonderful breakfast! A huge selection of tea's to partake of whenever you please and lovely coffee in the morning
  Noteworthy details
  House was built in 2018 and is incredibly nice. The grounds and gardens alone are lovely, but there's walking paths all around the property, plenty of wildlife to see, and many hiking trails nearby and Sheperdstown is just a 10 minute drive away. The hosts were friendly and helpful with advice about the local area, and shared some of their favorite cookbooks with us at breakfast. Highly recommended!

  Absolute gem of a B&B - a must-visit for vegans!

  We had a truly wonderful time in Sundogs recently. Peggy & Dave are the most wonderful hosts that you could possibly wish for. They are friendly, helpful and prompt to respond when you have any questions. Here's a detailed recap:
  
  Location: The location is easy to get to from the main road but still isolated enough that you won't hear traffic or be bothered by any sounds of civilization. Apart from the last 0.25 miles which is a gravel road/driveway, it's pretty smooth sailing all the way. After you park your car, the only sounds you will hear are those of nature. Shepherdstown (which is a short 10-15 min drive) has plenty of restaurants, retail stores and other conveniences if you feel the need for them.
  
  Rooms: We stayed in the Gable and found it to be very well appointed. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The bathroom is spacious and well stocked with everything you will need for your stay. It even features a soaking tub but we didn't get a chance to use it.
  
  Amenities: There is plenty of seating in a large and comfy living room and a decent collection of books and games if you want to while away the time that way. There are also several chairs and tables placed on the front porch and the rear porch. There are also lounging chairs all over the garden if you want to commune with nature and listen to the birds.
  
  Food: The food was one of the highlights of our stay. David is an excellent cook & baker and the breakfast he served on both the days we stayed was outstandingly delicious. Being vegan, we were looking forward to the plant-based breakfast that was advertised on their website and I must admit that it exceeded our expectations.
  
  Activities: There are plenty of activities within an hour's drive. We opted to visit the Yankauer Nature Preserve, the battlefield of Antietam, Harper's Ferry and downtown Shepherdstown. There are also a few trails on the property but we couldn't try them because it was rainy for the bulk of our stay. The garden is an absolute haven for bird watchers. We could hear a lot of birds from daybreak till sundown and it was literally music to our ears. Peggy is very knowledgeable about the birds and was helpful in pointing out birds when she noticed some.
  
  Due to the weather, we couldn't full enjoy all the amenities and features of the Sundogs B&B but we do plan to visit again and enjoy their hospitality all over again.

  Natural Beauty and Peace

  Our weekend at Sundogs B & B was heaven for my husband, our best 4-footed friend, and me. The natural beauty & peace of the 46 acre property with miles of beautifully maintained walking trails , the kindness & friendliness of the hosts, the beautiful breakfasts with our happy pup beside us, being an easy drive away from historical Shepherdstown and Sharpsburg, excellent local brew pub (Potomac Ridge), and first-rate winery in a gorgeous old dairy barn (Antietam Creek) gave the three of us the perfect break from the stresses & noise of the city. We look forward to our next stay. Highly recommend!

  WV weekend getaway

  We brought our pup along for an anniversary getaway—perfect, lowkey weekend. The hosts were so kind and accommodating. The breakfast was better than I could have even imagined.   Most hidden gem of ALL hidden gems

  THE most hidden gem of ALL hidden gems. This was the cleanest dog friendly lodging I’ve EVER experienced. Hospitality, food, gardens, grounds — every single thing was 5 stars. It was our first family road trip with our new pup (she’s a 2.5 year old Westie) and we can’t wait to go back. 40+ acres of trails, wrap around porch, incredible sunrise, no light pollution so I not only saw a shooting star but the Milky Way, as well! It’s the perfect place to stay and check out the eastern panhandle of WV — Harper’s Ferry, Shepherdstown, and Charlestown. I don’t have a single sliver of constructive criticism!
