Sundogs is a B & B that offers very gracious hosts and a relaxing landscape. David cooks the breakfasts using home made ingredients served on the outside patio facing the serene landscape. The eggs are supplied by the Inn's chickens. It is not unusual to sit and chat with other guests after breakfast. We enjoyed our stay very much.
The most beautiful grounds and house that you could ever dream of. Dave and Peggy are the absolute best hosts and the breakfast was fantastic. Oh and I was able to pet and hug Sparky the goat too!! Rooms: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Location: 5/5

Gorgeous, quiet, immaculate B&B just a few minutes outside Shepherdstown. The owner is the former horticulturist at Mount Vernon, so the grounds are beautiful and she happily shares information about the plantings. Even though it’s dog-friendly and there was an occasional bark, the house was spotless. Shepherdstown is a great town to explore, too!

Sundogs Bed and Breakfast is a stunning retreat that far exceeded my expectations. The gardens are breathtaking, the breakfast is exquisite, and the hosts, David and Peggie, are exceptional. This is one of the best bed-and-breakfast experiences I have ever had. Highly recommended; five stars.
My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and had an amazing experience— David and Peggy were wonderful hosts! The food was beautifully presented, colorful, and most importantly delicious. My husband is omnivore and has always disliked tofu, but by the end of our stay he had found at least three new dishes that he enjoyed.
The beautiful property is an added bonus; we enjoyed walking the trails and exploring the nature available in Sundog’s backyard. We look forward to coming back in the future!
Tucked away a few short miles from Shepherdstown, I spent four lovely days at this quiet retreat. Birdsong woke me in the morning and innkeeper David served delicious vegan breakfasts on the porch overlooking the spring garden. My room was immaculate and the bed so comfortable. Next time I'd definitely bring my dog to join me on walks by the creek where spring wildflowers abound. So grateful to innkeepers Peggy and David who are creating a comfortable spot for guests and healthy habitat for wildlife and native plants.
Sundogs Bed ands Breakfast is the best bed and breakfast! The house is designed for the guest, providing ample space for comfort inside the dining/living area. Bedrooms are roomy but cozy---love the shower! The grounds are extensive and lush, providing plenty of opportunities for a stroll in the gardens, fields, or woods. Breakfast (fireside for our stay) was delicious and accommodating. Best of all, Dave and Peggy were welcoming hosts. I will definitely return to Sundogs!
I just returned from a wonderful 3 night stay at Sundogs. The house is beautifully decorated, and the gardens are absolutely stunning. The room I stayed in was spotlessly clean, with a comfortable bed, very nice linens, a sitting area and a large closet. The bathroom had a huge walk in shower, heated floors, and all the usual amenities. When the owners say Sundogs is dog friendly, they really mean it. Crates, beds and bowls are available at no charge, and there are waste stations located on the property for easy clean up. I was a bit hesitant when I saw that the breakfasts would be plant based, but they were delicious and very filling. When I complimented the owners on the previous morning’s eggs, I was stunned to hear that the “veggie scramble” had been made with tofu! Peggy and David delightful hosts. I enjoyed speaking with them each morning, and Peggy, a professional dog trainer, was very generous in sharing dog training tips. I look forward to returning.
I stayed at Sundogs with my partner and my senior pup (Mya). Sundogs is more than dog friendly; Mya was welcomed just as much as we were.
The rooms and grounds in the bed and breakfast are beautiful. We enjoyed our room. The shower was one of the best showers I've had in any accommodation.
Breakfast was also wonderful. Everything was scrumptious and they seemed willing to accommodate any dietary restrictions.
Great experience! The location and property is incredible. Very peaceful. The breakfast was well thought out and very homemade, which was a nice reminder of how incredible food can be when done right! Nothing but great things to say about these guys :).
Sundogs B & B was an absolute 5-star gem in Shepherdstown. We went for a birthday weekend get away and brought my sweet dog, who was absolutely spoiled by the welcome and all the special touches! There are so many charming and lovely touches that Peggy and Dave do to make your vacation special. They are so friendly and warm and have a gorgeous home and have thought of all of the amenities you could want- very comfortable bed, super clean rooms, lovely soaking tub and giant showers, a fresh pot of coffee waiting for you in the morning and very delicious home made breakfasts. The property is so lovely and meticulously maintained. There are lots of adorable spots in the yard to rest and relax and enjoy the views and star watch at night. We will definitely be back! Thank you Dave and Peggy!
Stayed here for a girls trip and we loved every second. Breakfast was excellent. Rooms are a dream. The property is STUNNING. The hosts, Peggy and David, are lovely! So kind and accommodating. Will stay again!!
Our stay at Sun Dogs was absolute perfection. The grounds, the breakfasts, the home and the company we everything we had hoped for and more. In fact, we opted to stay in one afternoon just to spend more time on the property. Peggy and David were an absolute delight. From personalized coffee trays for our room in the morning, to glasses of wine on the porch in the evening, we are now trying to find an excuse to go back - but this time to share it with friends and family.
