  I signed up for a group surf lesson with this company on the recommendation of another company that couldn’t accommodate me based upon the timeframe of my trip. The other two people in my group ended up rescheduling so I had the instructor, Noah, to myself for the lesson. I was a little nervous as a woman who is late 40’s and never surfed before, but honestly the experience was great. They met you at a place perfect for beginner surfing, provided a rash guard, shoes, and everything I needed to get out there & try it. The instructor was friendly, informative & after walking me through the basics, we paddled out to the break. I’m delighted to report, I stood up on the first wave he paddled me out to & caught every wave he set me up for! It really was a magical experience to be able to take a lesson & get up on the waves on my first try. They also you surfing & give you the opportunity to purchase the video if you want it. I liked that I was able to support a woman owned business, they were a smaller outfit & able to give personal attention & a great waikīkī surfing experience. You even get a sticker to commemorate your experience 🤙🏽

  Stop researching places to learn how to surf and book a session with Mito! Like, right now! I booked two individual sessions for my 4 year old and myself to each have 1:1 time with a teacher while also being close to each other in the ocean.
  For reference: my daughter is 4 and just recently learned how to swim so she still wore a vest during the lesson. I am 48, 250 lbs and not athletic in the least bit. But Mito's way of explaining and encouraging not only made me feel comfortable but also enabled me to stand up on the board by my 4th wave. Ever since I was a teenager I wanted to learn how to surf in Hawaii and Hawaii only. It took me this long to do it and Surfer Girl Academy was the absolute best place to do it. We will be back for more!

  Wow! I just had my first surf lesson ever. I'm a 45 year old overweight female on the trip of a lifetime and if you're going try surfi g it has to be at Waikiki and I'd highly recommend surfer girl academy! I was put at ease staight away and had the best time out on the waves even seeing a turtle. Everthing is done at your own pace and there is no pressure. Go surfat surfer girl academy!

  Shout out right off the bat to Mito-San, Shuji-San, Ezra and Dillon. Due to my lack of planning and being in panic mode that my family would miss trying to surf in Hawaii Mito-San and the crew at SGA totally saved the day for my family. My family since paddling in at the end of their lesson has not stopped talking about their surfing experience with SGA. You truly are professionals who not only put safety first, you also ensure the people taking lessons receive the experience of their lifetime.   Je suis tombée par hasard sur cette académie de surf. Je n'avais aucune experiences et je souhaitais absoluement quelque chose d'authentique. Une fois réservée j'ai tout de suite pu compter sur leur professionnalisme et leur passion. Cetait une très belle expérience. Les moniteurs sont patient et rassurant. Je les remercie pour se moment hors du temps.
  Je conseille fortement le cour le plus tôt. Cela permet d'avoir un groupe en effectif réduit avec des vagues agréables.
  J'ai craqué sur les photos et vidéo souvenir. Certe c'est un achat en plus mais il permet d'avoir une trace de se sublime moment.

  My wife had a brilliant time at her surf lesson. She spoke highly of the instructors Noah and Kai. Both were brilliant and gave her the confidence to stand up her first time at a surf lesson! Would highly recommend! She said when (not if!) she comes back to Honolulu she would book again and request them!

  I booked a group lesson through GetYourGuide with Surfer Girl Academy and it was an amazing experience.
  
  The ladies running the class are really patient, considerate and encouraging. They did some basic skills at the beach and shallow water, just to show us how to balance and paddle. It wasn’t my first time surfing but it has been a long time, they helped me gaining some of the skills back. They used big plastic board, not the foam one in Costco, so you do need to be a little more careful with your knees or if the board would crash into when you fall.
  
  One instructor also has a go-pro to capture the moments you ride the waves, or falling into the water. The videos and photos are extra but it’s totally worth it and I amazed at the skills our photographer has to ride waves next to you and record your moments.
  
  This school also offers instructions in Japanese and one of the ladies in our group lesson is Japanese. The instructors shift seamlessly between the two languages for the small group.
  
  There’s definitely a lot of paddling involved because the waves break a lot further from shore. So be prepared for a good workout!

  My 18 year old daughter and I took lessons with Surfer Girl Academy yesterday. Ezra was our instructor and he was amazing! My daughter and I were both really nervous before the lesson and Ezra was so nice and calmed our fears. He was a stellar instructor! My daughter and I were both able to stand up and surf multiple waves multiple times and they got great photos and videos of us doing all of that! It’s so nice to have those memories captured for us to take home with us! We walked away from this experience feeling so accomplished and proud of ourselves! All of the staff were very kind and helpful! They also provided the wetsuits and water shoes as well as the surf boards! My daughter and I have a new love for surfing now and we will definitely be using Surfer Girl Academy again in the future!
