We stayed at Sundogs with our two dogs on our way down to Tennessee from Massachusetts and we loved it so much, we rebooked for the return trip! The property is beautiful, with elegant rooms, landscaped gardens, wrap-around porch and a working farm where you can feed the goats and hold chickens! Peggy and David were the perfect hosts and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable, even preparing food for when we arrived after emailing them to say that we were stuck in traffic and were going to arrive late. The house is close to Sherpherdstown and Harpers Ferry and we would highly recommend staying here if you are visiting the area, especially if you have dogs.

Fantastic weekend getaway
I recently was blessed to spend some time at Sundogs B&B. The owners, Peggy and Dave, designed a beautiful home with open porches that overlook gardens and walking trails. Heaven! I will be back soon!

Magical Place
Sundogs is a stunning place to unwind. Beautiful property. Amazing breakfasts. Great rooms + bathrooms. I saw deer, owls, turtles, skunk, rabbits and a ton of beautiful birds. Hikes and cute towns nearby. Peggy and David are outstanding hosts. And if you are a dog lover bring your pup and expect to be spoiled.

Stay with your furbaby!
Bottom line up front: you are probably staying here because you want to vacation with your furbaby. The outstanding vegan breakfast will be a huge bonus! Pros: - Dog friendly! - Vegan menu/delicious breakfast - Lovely, large rooms - Amazing service - Plenty of common spaces - Beautiful landscaping and flowers - Outside is quiet - Very few rooms (limited guest count) - Famous goats We loved our stay at Sundogs B&B. The house and grounds are beautiful. There are plenty of seats along the huge covered porches. One side of the house has a screened in porch, which was especially well liked by our group. I attached a few pictures, it's a beautiful place! I can't rave enough about the food. They make vegan decadent! Every breakfast was a treat: peach shortcake, potato quiche, warm blueberry cobbler, baked apple french toast, blueberry scones, pitchers of good coffee, etc. Don't plan to lose weight while here. The Cons The only downsides I feel obligated to mention are: - WiFi is unreliable (pro? Or, con? ) - Barking Don't be surprised if you end up with a chorus of barking puppers, which can be heard throughout the house. I don't want to brag, but Bern Bern didn't make a peep. Some in the group mentioned they wished there were additional trash cans and a larger fridge/freezer (for snacks and leftovers).

On Facebook -
Thanks Dave and Peggy!! Our Valentine's Day - Anniversary stay was beyond any expectations!! Every aspect of your hospitality and the accommodations were exquisitely well thought out! We are already looking forward to our next stay and will be inviting special friends to join us.... (and Peggy, thanks for the insights into understanding and training our puppy, would you believe we've already noticed a difference in Gabby's demeanor!) -

Not just dog-friendly, the dog-friendliest!
This was our first stay at Sundogs, but it won't be our last. While there are a number of places that we have been to that describe themselves as dog-friendly, Sundogs is the dog-friendliest. Where else can you bring your dog into the dining room (on leash) so that you don't have to leave your friend behind when you eat breakfast? They even provided bed covers in case your dog sleeps on your bed with you.
Hiking trails everywhere, scrumptious plant-based food, amazing rooms that are beautiful and comfortable (heated bathroom floors!), a low flat-rate pet fee (not per day), a cute town to explore with many dog-friendly restaurants where, again, your on-leash dog can join you inside the dining rooms, two friendly inn-keepers, beautiful gardens, and goats and chickens that starred on Broadway (I'm not kidding). -

Peaceful Getaway
Sundogs is a peaceful country getaway, in a beautiful location, just minutes from Shepherdstown, WV, a really cute town with great restaurants and shops. We enjoyed exploring the nearly 2 miles of paths on the property, and loved seeing so many species of winter birds. Although we are not vegan, we enjoyed David’s delicious breakfasts and will try the vegan ‘sausage’ at home. We stayed in the ‘Sunny’ bedroom, so appropriately named, and were lucky to see an amazing sunrise over the meadow one morning. Dave and Peggy are very gracious hosts, ensuring that we had everything we needed, including welcoming (real wood!) fires in the morning and evening. This gracious new home and B&B is the beginning of their life’s dream; we wish them the best, and look forward to returning to see their plan grow.

Sundogs B&B was the nicest B&B we have ever stayed at. The owners, Peggy and David were so very nice, caring and beyond accommodating. The room, house and property were immaculate and very welcoming. The breakfast and snacks were excellent as well. We will absolutely be returning this year. Sundogs is a must visit! Thank you for everything!!!

Christmas Vacation
After visiting Washington, DC and decided to look for a B&B and Sundogs exceeded all of our expectations. Clean and beautiful amenities, great homemade food and amazing hospitality!
In the picture, you can see the Christmas dinner they made for us (even though they didn't need to).
We will definitely go back, -

Wonderful Place for Humans & Dogs
From the moment we arrived to our departure, we received incredible service and enjoyed wonderful accomodations from Peggy and David.
Our room was spacious and smartly furnished and the bed and pillows were great. The dogs were very comfortable in the house and running around the property outside. We looked forward to the delicious vegan meals with mouths agape.
Peggy and David were attentive to our every need and were kind enough to take us to a few special restaurants.
We had a great time and I recommend Sundogs Bed and Breakfast most highly for you and your dogs. -

A refuge for humans as much as for animals
Sundogs is a peaceful, welcoming and wholesome home away from home in beautiful countryside. The house is new, spacious, and classically decorated. Wood burning fire at night and in the morning; creative, delicious and filling vegan breakfast every day; wine, tea and snacks around the clock; bath salts and heated bathroom floor tiles; comfortable beds with a view to the fields outside where the deer and cardinals share grazing space in the mornings.
When we stayed there were two goats, three chickens, three dogs and two cats calling this place home (though not in the guest space, where only guest dogs are typically allowed). Peggy and David were welcoming hosts who clearly see this as a labor of love. They shared recipes and stories with us, went with us on a walk, let us take one of their dogs on a run around the property, took us to feed the goats and chicken and even introduced us to some of the foster puppies they had in house at the time. All the while giving us all the privacy and downtime we needed too. They have a vision of conserving nature in the property (both wild fauna and flora), and providing a refuge for both farm animals and a few lucky humans at a time.
Shepherdstown itself is a quaint small town with a thriving university center and a handful of interesting cafes which are worth a visit, as is Kelley's Farm Kitchen in Harper's Ferry, also driving distance from Sundogs. But other than for lunch/dinner, you really don't even need to leave this place. And you likely won't want to, even when it's time. -
