  Sundogs is the best WVA retreat

  This bed-and-breakfast located close to amazing Shepherdstown… But far enough away you wouldn’t even know they have neighbors…
  
  I’m not a vegan… But they’re vegan breakfast were amazing and would satisfy any omnivore and have you thinking twice about moving to a plant based diet

  Wonderful stay

  My best friend and I stayed for two nights for a relaxing getaway and hiking trip. The owners were very friendly and accommodating and we had access to the main house and expansive grounds. Breakfast, in the morning, was an amazing vegan breakfast served in their formal dining room. They also offered complimentary water, seltzer, beer and tea as needed. Our room was large and luxurious with a full bathroom- massive shower and soaking tub. It really was a great and relaxing stay. The bonus was getting to see so many dogs that other guests brought. Hoping to return again with my own four legged friend.

  Nothing but amazing

  Nothing but amazing things to say about our stay! It was exactly what my husband and I needed for a little getaway. Our room was so cute and comfortable, the food was out of this world, and the property is breathtaking. We enjoyed sitting out and watching the sunrise while taking a little walk along the trails. Peggy & David were so sweet and welcoming and made us feel right at home. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a sweet getaway!

  Full of sweet, simple surprises

  We'd been waiting for months to visit Sundogs and we're happy to report that it was well worth the anticipation! Peggy and David (and all of the pups and goats) were just so warm and welcoming - we couldn't have asked for a more lovely and peaceful stay. Our highlights were exploring the gardens, feeding the goats, sitting on the front porch with new friends, and of course, enjoying one of the best homemade breakfasts we've ever had. We will surely be back on our next trip!

  Amazing!

  Peggy and David are such amazing hosts. My fiancé and I truly enjoyed our peaceful weekend at sun dogs bnb. It was very clean and the scenery was breathtaking. Breakfast was delicious and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. I enjoyed the quiet and the beautiful stars at night. We will definitely be back.

  Beautiful and Peaceful

  A friend and myself needed some relaxation time, so we headed to SunDogs. I was looking for a vegan/plant based B & B and this place was perfect. It is a beautiful place, nature all around, lovely tended grounds, relaxing atmosphere, and the precious goats and chickens. Both of the owners were very nice and they made you feel welcome. All around a wonderful B & B!!!! I just wish I was able to stay longer. More B & B's like this place should exist. I highly recommend SunDogs. Five star definitely!

  Beautiful place to rest and relax

  Beautiful place to rest and relax. The gardens were gorgeous and trails around the property well maintained and a delight to walk. Highly recommend a visit here! The food was phenomenal and the host are kind and welcoming. Shepherdstown is only a few miles away and a great place for shopping and dining.

  Better than expected - beautiful place, wonderful people

  My lovely young wife and I live in DC, about 90 minutes drive from Shepherdstown, and wanted a nice place for an easy weekend away. Sundogs seemed good, and my wife never met a dog that didn't love her, so gave it a shot. It exceeded our expectations, and we will be back (likely with friends, some who have dogs).
  
  
  
  The hosts, Peggy and David, are kind, funny, cook around allergies, and made us feel welcome. Peggy is a retired horticulturalist whose work included Mt Vernon and Dumbarton Oaks - the grounds are amazing.
  
  
  
  The room was very nice, clean, comfortable, and had lovely views. The shower was big and great.
  
  
  
  Random note: There are two goats at Sundogs, retired stars of the Broadway revival of Once on this Island.
  
  
  
  Two less random notes:
  
  All the food is vegan. The breakfast was very good and healthy, but if you want bacon you should get breakfast in town.
  
  
  
  Second, the wifi aspires to spotty - not Sundogs fault, rural broadband is huge problem. What little we needed to do online we did on our phones or in town where there is ample and fast internet access.

  Absolutely stunning

  Absolutely stunning landscaping to explore while you stay in the comfortable rooms. A quiet getaway experience where you can take your dog if you'd like, meet some goats, and enjoy a plant based breakfast in the morning. We stayed in the Bailey room and thoroughly enjoyed every moment!

  Wow!

  This BnB far exceeded our expectations in every department. It is tucked away off a gravel road, very quiet/secluded, but still easy to get to, and not far from the quaint historic district with little shops and eateries. Super quiet, clean, and comfortable bed. David and Peggy were very friendly and accommodating hosts, who make you feel at home. The food is literally the best I’ve had in any restaurant, and I live in a big city. The house is newer and very tastefully decorated, with an updated but cozy feel. Fresh cut flowers on the nightstand were a nice touch. The grounds are magnificent with great photo ops. We will definitely return!

  Sundogs = Heaven

  Sundogs was the first bed & breakfast my husband and I have ever stayed at and what an amazing experience it was! It set the bar HIGH. The owners, Peggy and David, have pulled out all the stops and truly pay attention to detail. They are the most welcoming people and we felt as if we knew them for years! The exterior of the home has beautifully maintained gardens and the most relaxing porch atmosphere - my husband fell asleep one afternoon while I read! Peggy made sure we were able to meet their goats and puppies, which really was a nice treat for us. The interior of the home is just comfortable, classy and gorgeous. We felt like we were staying at a five-star hotel: the entire home is spotless and offers many lounging areas. Our own room (the Acorn Room) was tastefully decorated and offered a heated bathroom floor, soaking tub, gigantic shower and water closet. Not to mention the luxurious king sized bed. We slept so peacefully all weekend! Coffee and tea were waiting for us each morning and breakfast was served by Peggy and David. The meals were not just tasty, but were presented so whimsically with many ingredients grown on their own property. The home is secluded but also just a very short drive from downtown, so we really felt as though we had the best of both worlds. We already cannot wait to go back one day!

  If I could give it 6 stars, I would. Accommodations, service, food, setting, and owners were all terrific. We particularly liked the goats. Walking the trail down to the creek and seeing the cascading water was wonderful. The landscaping was beautiful.

  Dog Friendly Oasis

  I wanted to take a short three night four day vacay where my dogs would feel as welcome as I did, and I found it here. The hosts were so welcoming to me and my two Shih Tzus. The home and the grounds are beautiful and so well maintained! Unlike most B&Bs, my pups were welcome throughout the common areas of the house. The hosts had great suggestions for local dog friendly activities and restaurants. The vegan gourmet breakfasts were yummy! The town was super dog friendly and quite honestly, just plain lovely. I would not only go again, but I am planning my next trip already!

  Don't think twice - book it!

  Vegan bed and breakfast and you can bring your dog! No young children allowed when made it a quiet and enjoyable couples' getaway. The property is stunning, immaculate, the rooms are large, bright and airy, and beautifully decorated. The breakfast is the best vegan breakfast we have had and we're from DC! Peggy and David are warm, inviting, attentive and wonderful people who really care about animals. There are two really cute goats you can feed, and two chickens as well as a few doggies. You an walk along the grass all around the property, play corn hole, lounge on the beautiful patio or sit in the large covered porch. Don't think twice - book it! We'll definitely be back!
