  Wonderful Stay

  Sundogs was a great place to stay. The house is gorgeous and David and Peggy were most welcoming. The ground are beautiful and peaceful and the breakfast delicious and lovingly prepared. We also got to meet their lovely dog Andy and little puppy Pie. We loved our stay and hope to go back one day and stay longer.

  AMAZING B&B! DON'T pass this one up!

  My husband, our dog Jax and I stayed in the Bailey for two nights while we were in town for our Son's wedding. We are so, so glad we chose to stay here! We had a fantastic stay and our experience at Sun Dog's B&B was world class! I am a Realtor and my husband works for the government, so we can be picky sometimes, but Sun Dog's exceeded all of our expectations. I will also say the photos while they are great just don't do this B&B justice.
  
  Peggy and David the B&B Owners/Hosts are absolutely amazing! You can see and feel that they put a lot of thought into this B&B and to make any guest's stay amazing here! They are both so friendly and welcoming also! This will definitely be our spot to stay any time we are in Shepherdstown or the area.
  
  The Bailey room was very comfortable and we loved the corner location. It had a breathtaking view of the gardens, pasture, and trails. The bed was super comfortable and the room was very spacious (definitely a lot bigger than any hotel room we've ever stayed in). The en-suite bathroom was awesome! We loved the oversized walk-in shower and the separate toilet room. The room also featured a large closet and everything you may need including an extra "dog blanket" that Jax loved. There is also a smaller refrigerator on the 2nd floor guests can use if need be.
  
  The main floor common areas are awesome also. We absolutely LOVE all of their gardens. Peggy definitely has an eye to create beautiful gardens and outdoor spaces. The gardens were full of pollinators, especially many butterflies and hummingbirds. I just love watching them and could for hours. They have an amazing, very large front and back porch, as well as a side screened porch that connects the front/back porch for guests to relax on. The rear porch is also set up for breakfast outside and we enjoyed our breakfast there every morning. The rear patio is also amazing to kick back on and has beautiful views of the gardens, trails and green pasture space. We enjoyed our morning walks with Jax on the many trails here. Parking was ample and always easy to get on-site also. Parking is located right in front of the house. By the way, their breakfast is awesome! It's all plant based, but so yummy and if you don't eat planted based you will still love it!
  
  The location of Sun Dog's is awesome especially if you are in town for a wedding at Wild Goose Farm. It took us 6 minutes to get to the wedding venue by vehicle and it was also a very short drive (under 15 minutes) to downtown Shepherdstown and around 30 minutes to get to Ranson/Charlestown. We loved that we could kick back and relax in such a beautiful, natural setting, but also be close to everything.
  
  Peggy and David really have thought of a lot to make your stay amazing and enjoyable. There are so many smaller thoughtful things they do, but honestly you just have to experience it for yourself! You will be so glad you did! We definitely suggest anyone to stay here if you want a comfortable, world class experience and a personal touch that you just won't get anywhere else! This place is hands and paws down much, much better than any 5 star chain hotel we have stayed at. - Nico, David & Jax.

  The first of many idyllic stays for us

  The first of hopefully many idyllic stays for us at this oasis of a bed and breakfast in Shepherdstown. My wife and I spent a fabulous two nights at Sundogs in August 2022. A convenient drive from D.C., we were treated with nothing but the highest quality of care by David and Peggy. The property is so gorgeous that words can't do it justice. The vegan breakfast is so delicious that you'll find yourself wishing they also served dinner. The location is perfect for exploring Maryland and West Virginia, from Shepherdstown to Harpers Ferry to Antietam, you'll have plenty to do during your stay. That is if you can pull yourself away from the luxurious accommodations. The goats, chickens, cats, and dogs on the property make from great ambassadors, so come ready to make a friend! My only word of warning is that the bedrooms can be a little noisy at night if there are others guests. We stayed in the beautiful Pippa room, but it was right at the top of the staircase, so perhaps choose a different room if you're a light sleeper. We can't wait to be back, hopefully at minimum for the theater festival next year!

  The quintessential B&B experience!

  The owners have created the quintessential B&B experience! The house and grounds are gorgeous, and the food is delicious, imaginative, and eye-pleasing. The hosts are friendly and all about the guest experience. From the beautiful rooms (I stayed in the Bailey), the wraparound porch and the landscaping to the many walkable trails, peaceful setting and former Broadway star goats, this B&B is a must if you are in the area.

  A dogs life by Remy

  My name is Remy. I’m a 9 lb. terrier and chihuahua mix and I just took my parents for a wonderful 3day/night stay at Sundogs BnB. I shared a king sized bed with them in the Sunny room. Hosts Peggy and David were so nice. Peggy even taught me and my parents some new commands to use with me. The grounds are beautifully arranged with gardens blooming with flowers. Peggy also served them 3 delicious breakfast's. We all spent time walking around Shepardstown. I hope my parents take me here again sometime.

  This was the best BnB I've stayed in!

  6 friends spent 2 nights at Sundog. This was the best BnB I've stayed in (and this praise is coming from a former BnB owner). The house and rooms are beautifully appointed and spacious. I admired and enjoyed Peggy's beautiful gardens. That she's a master gardener really shows and she even let me dig up some sprouts to take home. We've already made our reservation for July 2023!

  Quiet, beautiful and very relaxing

  I wanted to get away for a couple of days. Sundogs was able to accommodate me and I had an absolutely wonderful time. I did not take any pet with me, so I can't speak to what that experience would be. However, there is plenty of space outside to enjoy eating breakfast, reading a book, or whatever else you may wish to do. I highly recommend Sundogs and will go back.

  A Serene Stay in Shepherdstown

  Sundogs was the perfect retreat for a quiet and relaxing weekend. My husband and I spent two nights in the Pippa Room and would absolutely return and recommend the B&B to others. The place is an oasis away from the busy world. The property has hiking trails and lovely gardens. Plenty of places to sit and read in the garden. We didn't bring a dog but met a few four-legged guests and they all looked like they were loving the outdoors. David and Peggy were great hosts. Breakfasts were amazing. For coffee lovers, each morning started with a tall carafe of coffee you could bring up to your room or out to the garden in advance of breakfast. Such a great way to start the day. Then breakfast was a real treat with a mix of sweet and savory. Everything plant-based too. Our room was fantastic. It was spacious, comfortable, and had lots of light and a great view of the garden. The bathroom was super with double vanities and walk-in shower. They had make-up wipes, q-tips, soap, and shampoo/conditioner. Nice fluffy towels. We had an amazing stay at Sundogs and really enjoyed our visit in Shepherdstown.

  Wonderful Stay

  We truly enjoyed our weekend stay at Sundogs B&B. The hosts, the home, and the grounds were excellent. Breakfast was amazing, even my carnivore eating husband was pleased. We felt welcome from arrival to departure, appreciating fresh tulips in our room and a warm carafe of coffee awaiting us in the morning. A well thought out modern B & B within a serene country setting. Even though they cater to guests with dogs, it is very clean, so don’t let that deter you from staying here. You will not be disappointed.

  April night away

  My dog Daisy and I had a delightful one-night stay at SunDogs in early April. We were the only guests and loved having the spacious and comfortable house to ourselves. David met us at the front door and made sure we had everything we needed. We then took advantage of the expansive grounds and set out to town for an evening stroll and dinner. I loved the quiet of the property, which allowed me to appreciate all the bird songs in the morning! I was also extremely pleasantly surprised to see a thermos of coffee waiting for me when Daisy got me up for a walk and breakfast! And speaking of breakfast, the Benedict was sublime! Thank you so much for a lovely getaway; we will be back!

  We will definitely be back!

  David and Peggy were amazing hosts for our stay at Sundogs in March. The room (Gable) was lovely, especially the soaking tub. And the breakfast was plentiful, very delicious, and entirely plant based. Sparky and Peapod, the famous Broadway goats, were also a highlight! We brought bikes and went mountain biking nearby in Maryland, but lots of hiking, history, and other things to explore in the vicinity. So happy to have discovered this getaway so close to DC. We will definitely be back!

  Welcoming, Relaxing, Safe Environment for My Reactive Dog

  I stayed here for three nights and it was the most relaxing experience for my dog and me. Before we confirmed our reservation, we told the Sundogs team that my dog was anxious and reactive to other dogs. I received a call from Peggy who confirmed in a lovely phone conversation that I had taken reactive dog training classes and knew how to protect my dog when he is experiencing reactivity. I appreciated the extra steps taken to know that my dog and their dogs would be safe on this trip.
  
  
  
  It turns out reactivity was a minimal issue! The wide acreage and room to run on a long leash was perfect for my dog's anxiety.
  
  
  
  The accommodations were comfortable and beautiful, showcase a variety of art styles. I slept very well and appreciated the heated tiles on cold evenings. I am not a vegetarian, but I didn't miss meat from their plant-based breakfasts at ALL.
  
  
  
  I will be recommending this to all of my dog parents, veggie friendly, nature loving loved ones.

  There were eight adorable puppies being fostered so seeing them was a special treat!

  The house is absolutely beautiful and the rooms very private and also elegantly decorated. All amenities were there, and we were served a fabulous plant-based vegetarian breakfast each day.
  
  We received a warm welcome by the owners, Peggy and Dave, who couldn't have been nicer.
  
  Reviewing their website could explain a little more about things to do and see.

  A sanctuary!

  I can not imagine a more beautiful, peaceful, dog friendly place to stay! The food was excellent, the hosts incredibly welcoming and the grounds were gorgeous. I stayed for a week in the Fall of 2021 while I attended a dog training academy. I am so glad that I did! They were a sanctuary and I will definitely be back!!!

  Relaxing visit to Sundogs BnB

  My sister and I enjoyed 2 nights away with our dogs. It was a perfect place to spend time together. We woke to an amazing breakfast by the fire and then hiked on the property and at nearby parks, local restaurants were great for dinner. The hosts accommodated every need. Sundogs is the definition of warmth and country charm.
