Request a couponThank you so much for the perfect weekend away! Our stay was exactly what we were looking for and are already planning on coming back with more friends and our spouses. Next time I'll have to get Peggy to give me a garden tour. I am so envious of all the beautiful gardens!
Sundogs was the first bed & breakfast my husband and I have ever stayed at and what an amazing experience it was! It set the bar HIGH. The owners, Peggy and David, have pulled out all the stops and truly pay attention to detail. They are the most welcoming people and we felt as if we knew them for years! The exterior of the home has beautifully maintained gardens and the most relaxing porch atmosphere - my husband fell asleep one afternoon while I read! Peggy made sure we were able to meet their goats and puppies, which really was a nice treat for us. The interior of the home is just comfortable, classy and gorgeous. We felt like we were staying at a five-star hotel: the entire home is spotless and offers many lounging areas. Our own room (the Acorn Room) was tastefully decorated and offered a heated bathroom floor, soaking tub, gigantic shower and water closet. Not to mention the luxurious king sized bed. We slept so peacefully all weekend! Coffee and tea were waiting for us each morning and breakfast was served by Peggy and David. The meals were not just tasty, but were presented so whimsically with many ingredients grown on their own property. The home is secluded but also just a very short drive from downtown, so we really felt as though we had the best of both worlds. We already cannot wait to go back one day!
Sundogs is a beautiful oasis for humans and dogs alike! Clean, comfortable, and the gardens and setting are inspiring. David and Peggy are welcoming and attentive hosts who accommodated my special dietary requests. Looking forward to another stay in a couple of months.
What a special place! Quiet restful B&B nestled in rolling fields. The grounds and gardens were a delight. The breakfast were delicious and plentiful. No one would know they were vegan and healthy. Dave and Peggy are wonderful and welcoming.
My dog and I loved going for walks on the trails. The stream was a delightful place for him to cool off, pounce and play.
Can’t wait to go back again.
This was our second time staying at Sundogs. My wife and I really like the seclusion and it is our go to place for a weekend getaway. They are very respectful, make all the rules clear, and give plenty of info about the surrounding area for you to make your trip how you want it. The breakfasts they make are amazing. I've even found myself eating things I never would have thought to eat before, it's that good. Coffee is ready for you early in the morning with your own labeled tray and the rest of the day is yours to decide. I suggest staying in the Acorn room. The bathroom alone is worth it. It has a separate closet for the toilet, a large open walk-in shower, and the only bathtub I've found that I can fit in (I'm 6' 6"). Will definitely stay here again.
Sundogs is a great getaway! The owners, Peggy and Dave, are wonderful hosts. Within minutes of arriving we felt like we were just staying with old friends.
Sundogs is the perfect little get away! Not too far from DC but it feels like a true escape. David and Peggy do a wonderful job making you feel at home, giving you everything you need for your stay. Cannot recommend Sundogs enough and already looking forward to coming back for another stay!
We loved our stay at Sundogs but more importantly the Dogs loved it!
Just attended a very beautiful wedding, that was close to last minute rescheduled to this location. As a guest, I would have never known because everything looked so picturesque perfect. The landscape was gorgeous, and perfect for my boho/outdoor-loving cousin. I wish we would have known to bring our dog!
We needed to get out of the city for a couple days and were looking for somewhere we could bring our 30-pound cattle dog mix with us. Sundogs was a perfect choice and we will be returning! We arrived in the late afternoon for check in and had a chance to take a glance at our generously outfitted room (nice sitting area, HUGE soaking tub and shower, large comfy bed!) and have nice walk around the property before heading ten minutes into town to a recommended dog-friendly cafe for dinner. Breakfast on our first morning was a wonderful veggie frittata, biscuits, and fresh fruit, and we ate on the screen porch so our doggo could have a little more space to roam without us holding onto his leash (but he saw the good eats and stayed nearby anyway!). Breakfast the second day was fresh fruit, a marvelous blueberry scone and a sumptuous mushroom and spinach omelette, Yum!! They also had beverages and snacks available all throughout the day in the common area kitchenette. Took lots of nice walks around the mown paths on the property and loved meeting the celebrity goats and chickens. Our only regret was not having more time to relax and settle into the common areas, but I imagine in post-COVID times with a slightly longer trip that will be easier. Peggy and David clearly take great pride in creating a clean, safe, peaceful and pleasant experience for all their guests, and we can't wait to get back and are recommending it to everyone we know, with or without dogs.
They well deserve their 5 star reviews! My wife and I stayed 3 nights and the beautiful room, the house, the food, the hospitality of the hosts, and the property all exceeded our high expectations. We have been vegan for 9 years and these were the best breakfasts we've ever had! I have no doubt non-vegans would enjoy as well. This is a beautiful home in a beautiful part of the world, can't wait to return!
The most perfect weekend!!! The balance of a stunningly gorgeous property, wildlife, hikes, other dogs, and nature combined with the most outstanding premises - the rooms! the bathroom! the communal area! - and FOOD! Every single element of my fiance and our two 40lb pups' stay at Sundogs was perfection. The owners were so kind and welcoming, and even offered some helpful tips on training, as well as letting us take our time to relax but checking on us to make sure all was good. I couldn't possibly recommend this property more! I've told every single one of my coworkers and friends and family about it, do NOT miss out on this gem!!
My Aussie, Harper and I stayed at Sundogs B&B, 30 Aug - 1 Sept . This B&B is exceptional! Squeeky clean and beautiful! These days, the value of a slight change in scenery and community cannot be overstated. To dislodge pandemic anxiety and get away for my Birthday with my pup, I found Sundog’s was the perfect recipe! Toss in some wildlife sightings, creek play, georgous gardens, scenic drives and hikes, with Sundogs you’ve got the perfect recipe for pure pleasure! Peggy and Dave’s breakfast was just what I needed to start my day! The love shown to my pup warmed my heart. Harper was in dog heaven and I in raptured repose. Visit Sundog’s B&B and you will come away refreshed and looking forward to your next visit!
Sundogs B&B is wonderful! The rooms are beautiful, and dogs are welcome. The food is unbelieveable...fresh-baked scones, turnovers, French toast, breakfast frittata...so yummy! The grounds and gardens are stunning with lots and hiking trails and places to chill out. The location is excellent, just a short drive to downtown Shepherdstown, Charles Town and Harpers Ferry. Peggy and David are the perfect hosts. LOVED it and can’t wait to go back!
I just spent a fabulous week at Sundogs B&B. I was staying there to attend a conference nearby so I wasn't able to spend as much time as I would have liked exploring the property. Peggy and David are amazing cooks and gracious hosts. Breakfast can keep you going all day. My room was lovely and quiet. The grounds are so interesting. I didn't bring my dog, but got to meet their cats, the goats, and the chickens. It was so relaxing to come "home" every evening to hang out on the patio or on their wonderful porches. You couldn't help but unwind watching the birds and deer. Thank you for a lovely time.
We stayed here in August with our German Shepherd. The home was immaculately clean, freshly renovated, and totally comfortable for us and our pup. Grounds are gorgeous - serene views, plentiful flowers and butterflies. Hosts were very welcoming and patient with our puppy. Breakfast was delicious and fresh. Wait until you try Peggy’s omelette and biscuits! Highly recommend - even for couples without a pup who enjoy being around pups.
From the owners Dave and Peggy to the birds, butterflies, deers to the flower gardens. It is the nicest retreat to stay at. Thanks for the wonderful and relaxing experience.
If you own a dog and live near DC you must come visit this place. It’s a beautiful property. Amazing places to walk. Great rooms and bathrooms. And the breakfasts are ridiculously good.
